Richard Gallagher is a board-certified psychiatrist and a professor of clinical psychiatry at New York Medical College. He is at work on a book about demonic possession in the United States.
In the late 1980s, I was introduced to a self-styled Satanic high priestess. She called herself a witch and dressed the part, with flowing dark clothes and black eye shadow around to her temples. In our many discussions, she acknowledged worshipping Satan as his queen.
Im a man of science and a lover of history; after studying the classics at Princeton, I trained in psychiatry at Yale and in psychoanalysis at Columbia. That background is why a Catholic priest had asked my professional opinion, which I offered pro bono, about whether this woman was suffering from a mental disorder. This was at the height of the national panic about Satanism. (In a case that helped induce the hysteria, Virginia McMartin and others had recently been charged with alleged Satanic ritual abuse at a Los Angeles preschool; the charges were later dropped.) So I was inclined to skepticism. But my subjects behavior exceeded what I could explain with my training. She could tell some people their secret weaknesses, such as undue pride. She knew how individuals shed never known had died, including my mother and her fatal case of ovarian cancer. Six people later vouched to me that, during her exorcisms, they heard her speaking multiple languages, including Latin, completely unfamiliar to her outside of her trances. This was not psychosis; it was what I can only describe as paranormal ability. I concluded that she was possessed. Much later, she permitted me to tell her story.

Who? democrats?
Obama and Hillary? Both of them change scripture to suit their purposes.
My sister had an episode of shadow people - even being levitated in her sleep feeling - I told her she must be suffering from Sleep Paralysis. While she took to believing in the scientific explanation after watching videos of sleep paralysis victims she told me it was the most terrifying experience of her life - like being eaten alive.
My brother came home one day from school as a college kid. There was no one home and he swore he saw a shadow creature with red eyes that looked like a man trying to imitate a four legged lizard (best I can describe it). He said he saw the eyes and the darker shadow outline of teh creature - turned away - then said to himself what was that looked back and there it was still he turned away to turn on the light in the kitchen (he was looking out from the kitchen to living room) and when the lights were on the red eyed thing was gone.
Me? Never seen anything supernatural.
Silly me; I thought he was writing about Hillary Clinton...
It doesn’t have to be an atheist. I was an atheist and I never cared about Scripture. As an English major, I actually had to study it. It didn’t affect me either way. It was just a book.
But I know people who will not tolerate it to the point of violence. Why would you become violent about some words in a book? I read the Koran and I didn’t become violent.
Was a psych nurse for years. One case was beyond the realm of “normal.” A psych and med doctors had to agree. A patient almost killed two grandmothers( a state funded “normalization” program). We placed the pt in restraints, bed bolted down and the bolts were vibrating, lights flickering, oddest most evil sounding “tongues,” and worse. It’ was like being in the room of the movie The Exorcist only it was no movie.
I’m Cristian in my beliefs and have only seen such things a couple times in my life. It was very creepy and started praying continuously. Surely there are “principalities and powers in high places..” and we do not give credence to here they come from trying desperately to fit these situations in to a scientific view but sometimes you just cannot do this.BTW we transferred the patient to prison.
Christianity is not a philosophy; it is a set of specific actions: following Yeshua’s commandments.
That is what John said is believing in him.
The Romans didn't do trance states. Sooth sayers read thrown bones, animal entrails, and deciphered dreams.
The Druids' ( Celts ) are an unknown, since they didn't write anything and what we know of them, was mostly written by the Romans; especially Julius Caesar.
Voodoo heavily relies on "potions", but also on heavy drinking, dope, and/or extreme movements such as whirling and dancing.
What we don't factually know for certain, though, is whether any of these people also engaged in self hypnosis, which is also a possibility too.
It would be nice if Dr.Gallagher could examine Pope Francis and his Gang o’ Nine.
Obama is DEMON POSSESSED.
I don’t think one comes by a demon against his will.
Demonic possession is another explanation or name for liberalism.
Expected to see a Helen Thomas picture on this thread.
My ex wife confronted me in a voice not her own (raspy male). Her face was contorted beyond belief. Fortunately, I called her former pastor who did battle with her. Scared me straight out of there. I don’t believe she ever completely got rid of her devils. I have happily been divorced from her over 25 years.
I live in a smallish Southern town with a Wiccan history, and last night I had to park in front of a house that had been a witchesâ residence. When I got back to my vehicle, I saw a large black cloud and I then heard a loud clap of thunder right over my position. I looked down, and there was a black cat. I looked down the sidewalk, and walking towards me was a young man clad only in shorts with a large pentagram tattooed on his left shoulder. I didn’t hang around. Those things are real, and mentioned in the Bible numerous times. Why we ignore that, I don’t know. It makes us more vulnerable.
Barry Soetoro is demon-possessed.
“You believe in God? You do well; the devils believe also, and tremble”.
No doubt
No Doubt.
For those who think this is crazy, check out this classic: This is from 2009, Anita Dunn as obama’s communication director. Notice the tongue flapping. No mystery what is going on there.
