Today, May 21, 2016, the Holy See Press Office has released, in its daily bulletin, a statement attributed to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. The statement categorically denies the affirmation, reported here, from Fr. Ingo Dollinger, which speaks of a private conversation in which then-Cardinal Ratzinger spoke to Dollinger, a personal friend, about there being more to the Third Secret of Fatima than was published by the Vatican in June of 2000. Here is the full text of the Vatican statement:

I would take Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI word right now over anyone’s at the Vatican or anywhere else concerning my religion...

Pope Francis surely is not bound by the spirit of Our Lord...

Definitely worth reading the article. I won’t believe that Pope Benedict said that the Fatima story was a lie unless we are given real, direct evidence. All this is is hearsay from unknown sources. And, as we have seen even when excellent Popes were in office, what “the Vatican” says, spokesperson unnamed, must be taken with a grain of salt. There are all kinds of people in “the Vatican,” or even claiming to be in the Vatican when they are not.

How would knowing the true details help you live your daily life?

We should each focus on the life God intends us to live and let go the speculation of the unknown.

Somebody’s lying: the question is, who?

RM,

Can you please edit the title of my thread (the number part at the end)? I don’t know where that came from.

Are you sure? Benedict has told the world that he was not pushed out of the papacy when he resigned and numerous Catholics don't believe his word on that. They still think there was some coup.

Fr. Dollinger sticks to his account even though Ratzinger denies it.

I may not have made myself clear. I meant that I don’t believe that Pope Benedict told these latest guys that Fr. Dollinger lied about what he said.

I also think that Pope Benedict was probably pushed out of office. Not blackmail, but more likely he was convinced that his staying in office would be used to damage the Church.

That is one seriously fringe website that reads like the religious version of Art Bell. I will be restrained and, with apologies to Wikipedia, just say that I don’t think this should be considered a “reliable source.”

If you measure the message of the apparition against the Word you will see the message of the apparition is a lie.

OK, so you believe that the quotes are fake and the Vatican is lying? Am I understanding you now?

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Amen."

Does that sound like a lie to you?

Several articles have appeared recently, including declarations attributed to Professor Ingo Dollinger according to which Cardinal Ratzinger, after the publication of the Third Secret of Fatima (which took place in June 2000), had confided to him that the publication was not complete. In this regard, Pope emeritus Benedict XVI declares “never to have spoken with Professor Dollinger about Fatima”, clearly affirming that the remarks attributed to Professor Dollinger on the matter “are pure inventions, absolutely untrue”, and he confirms decisively that “the publication of the Third Secret of Fatima is complete”.

Does anyone else find it odd that these comments refer to "Professor" Dollinger rather than "Father" Dollinger?

Does this sound like a lie to you?

On 13 October 1917 the children surrounded by a crowd of 70.000 persons under a torrential rain, Lucy asked again of the Lady:

"What do you want from me?"

she answered: "I am the Lady of the Rosary, I desire here a chapel

in my honor

to be built, that people continue to recite the Rosary every day.

Later in the website we have the following:

The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father, in union with all the Bishops of the world, to make the consecration of Russia to

my Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means.

There are so many souls whom the justice of God condemns for

sins committed against me,

that I have come to ask reparation: sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray."http://www.theholyrosary.org/fatimaapparitions

RM,

One more request: is it too late to denote this as “All Catholic Caucus”? I have never created a thread this way and I need to start doing so.

I am not at all interested in the non-Catholics questioning Fatima in this thread.
