The top policy body for the United Methodist Church is struggling to avert a split over gay rights.

The Methodist General Conference voted 428-405 to delay all discussion of church policy related to LGBT people during a meeting in Portland, Oregon. Delegates created a commission Wednesday to review all relevant church law on the subject over a period of at least two years, then hold a special meeting to discuss the way forward. …

Does anyone think that this will be resolved with ANY equanimity?

What would Jesus say?

If they cater to LGBT and gay life styles in the least at a policy level, they will not be able to avoid the split.

Traditional Christians who hold fast to Christ’s word and the Bible, know the sin and the perversion for what it is, and will never accept it.

Kicking God's can down the road can lead to unexpected spiritual IEDs. There is only one answer, and it is THE BIBLE SAYS NO.

Appears they’re concerned with losing members and money so they put it off for two years.

Amazing. Obama is laughing his rear end off right now. In one EO look what he has done to this country. Still has months to unleash more.

“What would Jesus say?”

Nothing.

The believers would be swept up into Heaven just as He promised.

The heretics and apostates would be left aghast at the sight and then they’d shake with fear awaiting the judgment of His terrible, swift sword.

No Biblical Law, but a lot of church law.

I don’t see how they are going to come up with a solution that will satisfy everyone. There are already entire conferences that say the rules regarding homosexual marriage or ordination are null and void. They may as well let it hit the fan now. It’s now or it’s later.

They don’t believe in biblical inerrancy, so to them “no”
means “maybe”.

LGBT advocates have tried to change Methodist policy at every General Conference for 40 years. They have failed every time. And they have become increasingly disrespectful and disruptive over time.

If you cannot in good conscience adhere to the policies of a private organization, which were in effect at the time you joined that organization, there is one honorable thing to do: leave that organization. People who won’t respect the rules of the group and won’t leave are without honor.

If the decision makers are reluctant to look in the Bible for answers, they should at least look at the reduction of membership and revenues for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in the last 7 years.

Wow, you know the mind of God. You KNOW He would say NOTHING? You can read God's mind?
You also know what and how He would judge and what He would do at this given point.
Lol. Silly girl.

In other words, the “progressives” don’t have the votes to prevail. Rather than lose, they’re going to create their own special meeting with their own special rules. If you can’t win under the rules that everyone has agreed to, change the rules. It’s what liberals do.

The canon law is clear. Methodist ministers are prohibited from officiating at same sex weddings. Those who do must be defrocked. Practicing homosexuals may not be ordained as ministers. Bishops who knowingly ordain such persons must be defrocked. There is no need to study canon law for two years. Follow the rules which have been agreed to.

I don’t need to read God’s mind. I just need to read the Bible.

“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory” - Matthew 24:30

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.” Revelation 19:11-12
