On that subject I sent this letter to papers and commentators.
The 2015 gay marriage ruling completes a rewrite of our Constitution. The First Amendment says and used to mean, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”. In contrast the ruling on gay marriage helps illustrates how far the country has departed from first principles.
We are familiar with the term “speech or expression”, which seems an innocuous expansion of the above amendment. However, "expression" enables a nearly unbounded multi-billion dollar pornography industry.
Justice Kennedy's majority opinion states,"The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection as they seek to advocate and teach the principles that are so fulfilling and central to their lives and faith”. Such language severely restricts religious freedom by happening to exclude “free exercise thereof". This oversight means one cannot exercise religious beliefs in business and personal lives even though the Constitution makes no distinction between individuals, organizations and churches.
Now we have a country in which a woman can choose to express herself in the adult film industry, but cannot own a bakery and choose to exercise her religious convictions by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.

I do not cower. That is not how I was raised. You assume
much. - IF two queers came into my bakery and start
spouting off, I’d tell them to take a hike. - However, IF
I had product available, I would sell to anyone as long as
I did not have to participate by “decorating” anything with
little same sex dolls. Shoot! I’d just eliminate the dolls
& have flowers available to sell them. - I don’t nose into
others’ business; was raised to shut up & not try to be
a big socializer.
I’m starting to re-think this issue a little bit since I’ve been reading about policemen being refused service.
Exactly correct. They are asking for a product that is not sold by that shop. Kasich would put you in jail ..he’s moved on from the first amendment.
Our society is turning Nazi-Like, and we are the new Jews. Unless this evil is confronted head on, it will keep growing. Eventually it will be too strong for any of us to survive it.
Accommodating it, no matter how easy it is, is the wrong thing to do. It needs to be rebuked, and vehemently, but I think everyone is too polite and too afraid to do it.
Or more likely, because if they tried this on Muslims, Blacks, or Hispanics, they would get their @$$es Beaten, Shot, Stabbed or Murdered. It's not because they don't want to bother "oppressed" people, it's because they don't want to end up mangled or dead.
You would think these people would be intelligent enough to understand and appreciate the irony, but no.
What I don’t understand is....why has this argument not been made in court?
...tbh, I wouldn’t want to vote for anyone that doesn’t understand this, which would, apparently, mean any of them.
So much of the world has become confused. We have no leadership. I fear 2016, globally and at home. All things must come to pass....and that time is come. I never thought the things that are happening would happen within my life. Gay marriage is a bell tolling...one of many.
Very good post.
On these threads, there’s always somebody saying, “Just bake a bad cake.” It amazes me that people actually think that’s an option or solution. Christians can’t “bake a bad cake.” Purposely doing a poor job, and/or possibly making people who eat the cake sick, are against Christians’ religion just as much as baking a gay cake would be.
Great graphic!
That is a point I express every time this issue comes up.
This is not about CAKE people. It's about rights and freedom and opposition to "group think" and suppression of dissent.
