Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. We established in our last article that Jerusalem is the most important city on earth. For this reason alone we could say this, it is the only city in which the God of the Bible has “Set his name†upon.God has chosen Jerusalem to set His name forever.
For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.(Psalm 132:13-14)
Jerusalem is mentioned more than 800 times in the Bible.Jerusalem was the site of the Holy House, the place where the most High God dwelt on earth. It was the city of David, and the place where the prophets preached and were killed. Jerusalem , the “City of the great King†is the place where our Lord was crucified, and thus Satan was dealt a fatal blow.
Jerusalem was also the place where the resurrected Jesus ascended to heaven and the church was established.The Mount of Olives, outside of Jerusalem, is the place where the Messiah’s feet will touch down at his return.
But Jerusalem is also a significant place for the Muslims, all 1.7 billion of them. Islam claims that Jerusalem has always been a Muslim city.The Quran, of course never mentions Jerusalem by name, as we mentioned in the last article. Only one verse in the Quran can even be said to vaguely allude to it, the ISRA.
That is why it is significant that in Barak Obama’s speech to the Muslim world, 1.7 billion people, he only cited one passage in the Qoran, the ISRA, the only verse a Muslim will use to claim Muslim custody of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.The “leader of the free worldâ€validated the specious claim over Jerusalem to a savage religion of 1.7 billion adherents.
Jerusalem is of significance to the Atheistic, humanistic secular world as well. The “Kings of the earth and their rulers†have ideas about the Holy city, which they will seek to implement. Jerusalem is the only city on earth that the U.N. has split into two cities. The U.N. will not allow a united Jerusalem, nor will they allow it to be the capitol city of the Jewish State.
The United Nations General Assembly in 1947 drafted a Partition plan for Palestine which placed Jerusalem under the status of a corporus separatum city, under the administration of the United Nations. The eastern half of the city consisted of the Arab population and the western half was where Jews had their homes. The Temple mount remained under the administration of the Jordanian waqf, a muslim custody.
When the Six Day War occurred Israel took the entire city of Jerusalem, but Moshe Dayan turned the Temple Mount back over to the waqf, in fulfillment of the prediction of Jesus,â€Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot until the times of the gentiles be fulfilledâ€. Israel remains in control over all of the city but the U.N. refuses to recognize Israeli sovereignty.
Jerusalem has been considered by the Israeli government, the capitol city since 1949, and all branches of government except the ministry of defense, remain in Jerusalem. But almost none of the nations of the world will put their Embassies in Jerusalem, for fear of offending the Muslims.There is a law on the books, the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act, passed by the US house and Senate that we put our Embassy in Jerusalem, but no US administration has observed that law since it’s passing.
The US State Department was recently taken to court for refusing to mar the “Place of Birth†spot on a Passport of a young Jewish/American, “Jerusalem,Israelâ€.The State department position is that Jerusalem is not in Israel, therefore one can’t be born in “Jerusalem,Israelâ€. The State Department won in court and the young man’s passport was denied.
The status of Jerusalem, the so called “controversy of Zion†will become an increasingly divisive issue as we head towards the end of time. At first it involves the near neighbors of Israel but eventually pulls in all of the nations of the earth into the conflict.
The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.(Zechariah 12:1-3)
The world has designs on earthly Jerusalem?
Really? To do what with it?
Why does Costa Rica want Jerusalem?
What about Sweden, what are they going to do with it?
The US could have taken Jerusalem any time we wanted. What would we do with it??
Stop making the same mistake the 1st century Pharisees made and Jews do still to this day.
The Bible is God’s revelation to mankind of his love for a fallen world and His plan to save His people thru His Son.
It is not a book about fighting over a plot of land in the Middle East.
if you had read my article you would have seen that for some inexplicable reason, the U.N.(The World) has steadfastly resisted the status of Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol and has instead conferred a neutral status on it, and split it in two. Please read the articles if you are going to comment on them, so that instead of being snide, and obtuse you can offer helpful input

How is Jerusalem a burdensome stone for Bolivia? For Norway! For Singapore? For Burma?
The key to understanding that verse is to realize what is Jerusalem.
Hint : it has nothing to do with a city in the Middle East.
