God does only perfect work and He seems to be glad to help in things both trivial and tragic should we only ask (Him and others to pray) for help.
Last Tuesday was a significant turning point I even posted about it in 130. I think it was a special blessing for two reasons but first some background. That evening had been the tenth night of painful and restless sleep for both my wife and I. It seemed I was waking her every 15 minutes for pills, ice or such. I know, I'm a big baby but I committed myself to not waking her up that night so I asked for a little cooler, with ice packs I could reach from the bed so I wouldn't disturb her for a fresh one through the night. She returned with an Olive Garden insulated lunch bag and a sheepish grin. She had borrowed it from our daughter Mary's things and wanted to keep it a secret. I looked more closely at it as she turned and left the room, I could make out "Lester" faintly written on it and it suddenly struck me that this bag belonged to Mary's fiance's fraternal twin brother.
When Mary and James first started dating, Lester brought Mary home from the airport after meeting James in Florida. We didn't know that James had to stay another day so we thought Lester was James and we would be meeting him for the first time. When Lester and Mary arrived, we greeted him at the door with big hugs, for what would turn out to be the first and last time. Lester had been troubled but his tragic death was very unexpected and we were all devastated.
I made the sign of the cross with my thumb on the lunch bag where probably, Lester's mom had, written his name there and gave the soft bag a hug and strangely felt his presence as in the hug when we first met.
That evening the pain largely subsided and I slept peacefully until the morning. When I awoke, I felt confident that Lester had found his way into our sweet Savior's loving and eternal embrace. We Love and miss dear Lester and I feel he may have interceded with the Divine Physician on my behalf.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
thanks for the additional story
very touching
Wishing you the best with your continued recovery. How sad about Lester ... but it seems he’s still participating in your lives!
Still pulling for you. Feel better
“She returned with an Olive Garden insulated lunch bag and a sheepish grin. “
I just misread that as “insulted lunch bag” and then went off trying to imagine what it looked like.
Mentally came up with something from Gucci.
DO follow all the rehab instructions TO THE LETTER.
Tears. Thank you for that story.
Prayers for your continued improvement.
((((Hugs)))))
