this is a minor concession to traditionalists. michael sean winters writes that pope francis could put cardinal wuerl and archbishop cupich in charge of bishop appointments.

If Wuerl and Cupich are in charge of episcopal appointments, we will have another entire generation of gay bishops.

Well, like I said in my original remarks, I'm not much of a Vatican Yenta and I have no intentions whatever of keeping up with bug-tussles in the clerical bureaucracy.

It was just interesting to me that Michael Sean Winters' NCR was campaigning to have Vigano put in the coal cellar chained to a radiator pipe, and come to find out he's now to be in the top perch at Vatican Communications. Don't know quite what the flow-chart looks like, but does that make him Fr. Federico Lombardi's boss?

It's a little negligent to fail to thank the Lord when good things happen.

So, thank you, Lord.
