“Oh, come on! What about Pope Pius V?”

A magnificent pope who certainly restored orthodoxy to the Roman Church and fought the good fight against the Protestant Revolution and other heretics inside the Latin Church. For that alone his canonization deserves the great AXIOS of the People! His Mass was/is sublime, but he couldn’t hold a candle to the other two as a theologian.

I don’t think that’s fair to say the least. He was a man of action in an age demanding great action. He was responsible for the publication of the Roman Catechism. Nothing Pope Benedict XVI ever wrote or published will ever come close to the importance or impact of that one volume.
