I am not Catholic, but I am catholic. There are great concerns in the world that would be better met by a Pope like Urban II. Christianity depends upon it.

The Pope can be wrong. If he makes an Ex Cathedra Statement without concurrence of the Bishops, at least ALL of the Cardinals, it is not infallible and still wrong. He must be “in union” with all the bishops.

Translation: “Why isnt the Pope doing what I asked? I’ve politely couched my demand in the form of a request, and now I’m repeating myself for public attention. I want the Pope to dance to my tune. I don’t want to be patient. I don’t want to be humble. I want what I want and I want it now”.

The pope cares more about taking money from those who earn it and giving it to those who don’t, than about a silly Catholic teaching about marriage.

No. The question is, “Why isn’t this Pope obeying the teachings of Jesus Christ?”

That is not a translation; it is putting the worst possible slant on things without any reason to do so.

Likely we are all wrong. To what extent? We won’t know ‘til we meet our maker.

Maybe he believes he is. Aren't you supposed to obey your pope? It sound like you aren't getting your way and you're having a hissy fit. There are lots of churches. Pick one you agree with. I once was Epicolpalian and I switched to Presbyterian.

Sorry, but the Presbyterian “church” has already approved homo marriages; so I can understand your bias towards sodomy.

Actually, there may be “lots of churches” but to a devout Catholic, there is but one Church, so it is never going to be a matter of running out and parking your big Buick in front of another church down the street and calling it the Church. This means one stays for the fight even when the place is on fire. Just sayin’.

Our Pope is supposed to obey Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Is the Pope attacking the Sixth Commandment by proxy? Why are his closest advisers and collaborators publicly trashing doctrine (apparently with his blessing)?

Why in this petition are pronouns referring to the Pope in caps (eg. You, Your)?

There are many Presbyterians on FR. And we don't believe in sodomy. America was built on Protestantism. But we appreciate catholics too. They were the workers who built our factories, mansions and country clubs.

What kind of response is that?

An assumption or projection?

In either case, it was a really cheap shot, totally uncalled for and not a very positive representation of Catholicism.

On the other hand it was an outstanding representation of many of the snarky, smarmy, comments that frequently come from the non-Catholics, especially the ones that claim to be former Catholics.

Of all the verses Catholics zero in on and make much of, why not this:

“Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”—Matt. 15:14
