As a Catholic priest, I can only say it is embarrassing to have a Cardinal so blatantly and unfairly trying to associate Mr. Trump with the worst kinds of racism imaginable. I offer an apology on behalf of so many Catholics who are outraged by the dirty politics of Cardinal Dolan.

I bet Dolan is going to chastised for saying that from the Pope...Uh...I forgot...never mind.
Dolan was mistranslated.
Thank you for that apology, it takes a big man to say “I’m sorry” than just ignore something bad that was said...
Groveling before the zeitgeist is his specialty. Dolan, Wuerl and Lynch (of St. Petersburg, Florida) are currently running neck and neck in the race for the worst bishop. Cupich of Chicago is just behind but closing fast with his mission to cut carbon emissions.
They're all totally "out to lunch" on anything that really matters.
As always, follow the money. Catholic Charities/Archdiocese of New York gets over half their money ($35,000,000+) from the government.
Obama and the US government pays them to take in illegals and so-called refugees. The professional grant writers know how to pull in the money. Catholic Charities pulls in billions of dollars of taxpayer money every year. For a lot of them, it’s their full time job.
And, no, that’s not Catholic bashing. That’s just the truth. A few Protestant groups have tied to pull a little money but none have been as successful at pulling government dollars as Catholic Charities.

There may be a few more contestants in that race. How about O’Malley, Sartain, Gomez?
Well, Ms. Woo sure earns her annual $400,000 plus perqs.
You ain’t bashing. This is how the Catholic hierarchy in the USA became essentially an arm of the Democratic party (and now moving even further leftward).
The best thing that could happen to the faith is to lose the tax-exempt status. Maybe then we could find our way back to Christianity. Let charity begin at home, not the investment banker’s.
Is this the same Fr Guarnizo that denied communion to a lesbian (and was punished for it)?
BTW--I wish some Catholic FReepers would take note of the leftist slant of much classic American anti-Catholicism. The "Know-Nothings" were in fact the counterpart of the radical anti-clerical secret societies of Europe, but you'll never hear that pointed out. Also (believe it or not) classic American anti-Catholicism held that Catholics were unenlightened, ignorant, and reactionary--tools to be used to install a throwback reactionary monarchy, not some "people's republic." Of course, with Catholics now sitting in the catbird seat as intellectual giants who accept evolution this is long forgotten.
American Catholics have had, however, a distressing historic habit to be Democrats . . . even in the days before the new conciliar Church.
