Baylor Drops Language Referring to ‘Homosexual Acts’

In a change widely interpreted more in tone than impact, the world’s largest Baptist university has dropped its sometimes controversial ban on “homosexual acts.”

Baptist-affiliated Baylor University has quietly removed a ban on “homosexual acts” from its sexual conduct code.

In a change last May that went unreported until a story in the Waco Tribune-Herald July 2, Baylor’s board of regents amended the sexual conduct policy to read: “Baylor will be guided by the biblical understanding that human sexuality is a gift from God and that physical sexual intimacy is to be expressed in the context of marital fidelity. Thus, it is expected that Baylor students, faculty and staff will engage in behaviors consistent with this understanding of human sexuality.”

That language is similar to the old policy, which specifically referred to “heterosexual” marriage relationships, but it omits previous examples of policy violations such as “sexual abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assault, incest, adultery, fornication and homosexual acts.” It also drops a statement affirming the purpose of sex as “the procreation of human life,” language criticized in the past as insensitive to couples struggling with infertility.

Lori Fogleman, assistant vice president for media communications, said the change is part of an ongoing review “to ensure that the university has the necessary policies and processes in place to comply with the many legal and ethical mandates to which universities are subject as institutions.” She said a review of the sexual conduct policy was contemplated for a couple of years, because officials didn’t believe the language in the old policy “reflected Baylor’s caring community.”

Two years ago the Baylor Student Senate called on the university to drop the phrase “homosexual acts” from the policy and replace it with "non-marital consensual deviate sexual intercourse." The student body president vetoed the resolution, citing doubts the board....

“Baylor will be guided by the biblical understanding that human sexuality is a gift from God and that physical sexual intimacy is to be expressed in the context of marital fidelity...

Biblical understanding does not recognize, much less endorse'buggery' as a gift from God. To unequivocally state so tells me this University is all about the politics of money.

I'd normally have said immorality, or lack of decency or horribly misguided religious doctrine, but to me this just boils down to simple tacit endorsement of deviant behavior so that the University can proceed in making its money unmolested by the PC mob of politicians, media and entertainment.

Now change to “acts of love” right? Pedophelia is referred to as “teaching a child about the birds and the birds or the bees and the bees, right”?

That’s one thing a lot of people are not considering. They say “what harm is it if a Christian organization accepts ‘married gays’”?

Since marriage and sexuality is considered sacred and blessed by God, by tolerating gay “marriage”, they are claiming God blesses homosexuality (until they drop their stance of the sacredness of marriage).

Safe to say that Baylor is more Cooperative Baptist (liberal splinter group) than Southern Baptist these day.

Proud to say that when William Jewel College, Missouri oldest Southern Baptist college, went pro gay several years ago, MO Baptist cut all funding and officially disassociated from the college.

Why?

Did God tell somebody it’s ok now?

The sleight of hand that the movement to make homosexuality more acceptable to the great unwashed is to concentrate on the soft issues of emotions and ‘loving relationships’ and completely sidestep the issue of sex as if it isn’t even part of the equation. These folks should never be allowed to get away with this and although some will find this crude, I find it imperative to constantly be yanking any conversations I have back to the issue of sex. Thus if in discussion with somebody who perhaps seems to support same-sex marriage for example, I would interject something along the lines of “Listen, marriage at its core is really a lifelong contract to have sex…nothing more and nothing less. So are you telling me that you believe that the act of anal sex between two men is on the same level of legitimacy as vaginal sex between a man and woman as far as sealing their commitment to their vows of matrimony?” That usually stops folks in their tracks….I figure the Bible is very bold with its very clear association that it makes between sex and marriage and it does so without a hint of being embarrassed about talking about the issue. It simply does not beat around the bush as far as getting sidetracked into marriage being anything else.... why should I?

Fitting term. That sure didn’t take them long to cave. But they have done that on other issues. Still, this one is just plain shocking. Money is their God. That is what this demonstrates.

Not much of a real change, everyone knew their basketball star was a lesbian and the old policy didn't seem to bother her much.
