My mega church (unnamed) took a very clear stand against gay marriage and hinted at civil disobedience. Not all churches are wimpy.

I’ve heard some say “that’s not the work that Christ gave us to do.”

Pathetic cowardice.

Do you attend church or a few churches in your area?

I know to lump "virtually ALL churches" as "wimps on ALL issues" isn't factual - period!

Don't know your area of the country nor if you actually belong to a church/denomination, etc. but I do know that you might have to do some deep searches but there are churches that still teach and preach the bible as the Word of God, not the loose-leafed bible to be "guides" to social justice.

I also don't know if you have been so disillusioned with main line denominations that you've given up on attending any, as so many are these days, but there are true ministers of the gospel that you would find uplifting.

Any denomination that ordains women have been weakened to the point of no longer teaching or preaching or even holding fast to God-breathed scripture as the incarnate and actual Word of God!

My pastor clearly stated that he and our entire church leadership stood strong on refusing to recognize non-biblical marriage, was prepared for jail, etc. He said that if the government threatened to take away our 501c3 deduction, to come and get it - that's not what we are about.

He said he will only obey God's laws on biblical issues, not man's.

He repeated the parable about the woman at the well, caught up in adultery and didn't stop with "he who is without sin.....Jesus said neither do I condemn you - go and sin no more!"Our pastor says we are all sinners and love everyone and everyone is welcome but he is about preaching redemption, forgiveness of sin and salvation and aren't about to change.

Because queer dollars spend just as easily as hetero dollars do.

They are all about the money. No way they will screw with their 501 tax status. The Bible be damned.

Too many churches are more concerned with making sure the coffee bar outside the sanctuary is fully stocked and everyone gets to sing the latest Christian hits than they are with supplying people with the Full Armor of God.

That is tragic. It is wrong. And it will come home to roost.

A Baptist preacher (and good friend) once told me, “Don’t preach against drinking wine in California; don’t preach against smoking tobacco in the Carolinas; don’t preach against overeating ANYWHERE in the USA!”

He was joking. Sort of.

ANYONE can preach against gay marriage. If you want to see folks waddle for the exits, try preaching about gluttony...

;>)

My mega-church calls on gay Christians to be celibate. Several current members have spoken about this in regards to sin and obedience.

Good point. Gluttony is a sin. Have you ever read CS Lewis’ Screwtape Letters? He makes a very interesting observation about what true gluttony entails. :)

While I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, Pentacostal, I have to say Charisma News seems to hit the ball out of the park on a large number of issues.

Oh you kidding me Gamecock! They don’t say a thing about abortion so you really think they gonna say something about this?

All I got to say is “Don’t hold your breath”.

**They don’t say a thing about abortion so you really think they gonna say something about this?**

Nah. You make a good point.

No sin preached in those churches.
