Obama: Americans Need to Shift Religious Views to Accept Gay Marriage
Southern Orders ^ | 6/27/15 | Fr. Allan McDonald

Posted on 06/28/2015 11:27:55 AM PDT by marshmallow

After the Supreme Court issued its ruling on gay marriage Friday, President Obama gave a speech in which he said Americans need to change their religious views to be accepting of gay marriage, the Daily Caller reported. To that end, he encouraged gay marriage supporters to "help” people overcome their deeply-held religious views.

“I know that Americans of goodwill continue to hold a wide range of views on this issue,” he said. Initially, he exhibited a bit of respect for those who oppose same-sex marriage.

"Opposition in some cases has been based on sincere and deeply held beliefs,” he said. “All of us who welcome today’s news should be mindful of that fact. Recognize different viewpoints. Revere our deep commitment to religious freedom.”

"But today should also give us hope that on the many issues with which we grapple often painfully real change is possible,” he added. The implication was clear: Those who disagree with the idea of gay marriage based, for example, on their religious views, must change to be more like progressives who accept gay marriage.

“Shifts in hearts and minds is possible,” he added. “And those who have come so far on their journey to equality have a responsibility to reach back and help others join them. Because for all our differences, we are one people — stronger together than we could ever be alone.”

"That’s always been our story," he continued. "We are big and vast, and diverse. A nation of people with different backgrounds and beliefs, with different experiences and stories, but bound by our shared ideal that no matter who you are, or what you look like, how you started off, or how and who you love — America’s a place where you can write your own destiny.”

Since he has in the past said that America is a Muslim nation, he is obviously talking about Islam. I wish he would criticize Islam more frequently...

From the “The Committee of 300 by Dr John Coleman”

A State of Perpetual Imbalance. By artificially manufacturing crises that will put people under continual duress - physically, mentally, and emotionally - it is possible to keep people in a perpetual state of imbalance. Too tired and strung-out to decide their own destinies, populations will be confused and demoralized to the extent that, “faced with too many choices, apathy on a massive scale will result.”

The Gay population has tossed the baby out with the bathwater. Their right has not been reduced to a priveledge, that can be revoked at any time, moreover, the Scotus Decision affected all Marriage in America, not just Gay marriage.
I would question those advocates of the SCOTUS decision, why it is loving to accept gay marriage, while at the same time DEMANDING that people and businesses, against their convictions, publicly support such unions? How loving is that Gay America?
Finally, I gag, once again, at the inference that Obama represents the will of the people. I gag as he sings Amazing Grace, when I doubt that he knows the meaning of the prayer (I truly wish he did know).
This current administration represents nobody I know, and is devisive and debilitating to the people of America. I celebrate the fact that America has the most wonderful people in the world, an it is for that reason only, that I look forward to a post Obama America.

“Obama gave a speech in which he said Americans need to change their religious views to be accepting of gay marriage”

Sure you want to go there you ass? Our founding documents say: we are endowed by our Creator with rights to life liberty and property (and while unspoken obviously the laws to promote those rights.) To change our religious views could mean undermining our entire societal codes which as I said come from God, not some half breed dictator. To suggest individuals decide on a whim which religious views, and by extension laws, to follow could in the extreme lead to anarchy.

Hey, you stupid homosexual muzzie, it does not take religious beliefs to know what mental illness and depravity look like. Common sense and instinct are all I need to see what you do is revolting and against all that is natural.

It drives you crazy to know that so many will forever refuse to accept what you do as other than a sickening aberration. You are not normal, and never will be.

Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
The day’s divinity
First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach in a cool jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by its quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Snug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.
Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
The time has come again
Choose now, they croon
Beneath the moon
Beside an ancient lake
Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream
Come with us

Everything is broken up and dances.

When I embark on the fool's errand of trying to debate this issue with liberals, I try to defuse their anti-religion bias by telling them that it's not about religion really.

I try to explain that most accepted religions around the world embrace things that are of benefit to society as a whole. Religions try to discourage theft, drunkenness, murder, and things of that sort. Most religions also recognize the benefit to society of raising families in "traditional" households. This doesn't mean couples are required to have children, and yes there are still divorces and whatnot, but in general society is better served if we do emphasize the traditional family.

Sexual perversion costs society in increased disease, and it costs society because children raised in broken homes have a harder shot at becoming productive citizens.

I generally only want big government to get involved in things that benefit society as a whole, and I simply don't see the benefit in elevating gay marriage to the same level as traditional marriage.

You will not hear a peep out of Islam, except ISIS. Homosexuality is endemic to Islam all the way back to Mohammed. It is a Sodomite religion.

I wonder what his muslim friends think of that. They must be onboard so what is his angle? Muslims kill homosexuals. So, where is this headed?

For corrupting and politicizing our Supreme Court, you have earned an eternity of disdain. Have a nice life.

I don't think so. They couldn't boil it out of John. They couldn't burn it out of Shadrac, Meshac, and Abednego. They couldn't crucify it out of Jesus.

It will be the same today.

No...cause I fear the wrath of G_d. The underlying issue with all this gay marriage thing is folks don’t really believe G_d exist. They may say so, but they do not.
