Happy Memorial Day to you too. My Father was a veteran of WWII. Note that he was a tail-gunner and flew 32 missions over Europe in B-24s.
Unfortunately, he did not survive his post-traumatic stress syndrome.

thank you for posting this article. I had a great uncle gassed in WWI. He survived the war but died from the damage to his lungs in the 1920s. My grandfather, his older brother, told me about this. He was in the 42nd Infantry “Rainbow” Division.
