“Right there, the Catholic church condemns to hell those who have heard of the Catholic church and won’t join it.”

If the Church preaches that, then the Church is wrong.

I attended Catholic schools until I went to college (the first non-Catholic school I ever attended was in college), and I NEVER heard it said that only Catholics are saved. NEVER!!! But, I attended Catholic schools in California, so maybe we were a bit more rationale than Catholic schools elsewhere.

I think a great study should be done around here. Catholics vote on IF they know this or that about their church. It’s amazing to me how many DIFFERENT things so many DON’T know about. Don’t they have catechism or something?

If?

Merely read many remarks from Catholics on these threads; for THEY sure indicate that THEY believe this!

I wonder where THEY got THEIR info from?

"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours." — Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215)

I’m old enough to remember pre Vatican 2 and yes, it was taught that only Catholics were saved.

I remember in the late 60’s even, I joined a Girl Scout troop that met in the basement of a ***GASP*** BAPTIST church.

Well, I wasn’t sure if going into that church was a sin or not, and neither were my parents. They checked and found out that as long as I went in the back entrance and right into the basement where they met, I was OK. But under NO circumstances was I to go into the sanctuary. THAT would be a sin if I went into the section where they actually worshiped.
