Hey CB, did someone kind of, in a semi round about way, accuse you of being a satanist? I am sure you have been called many dirty rotten things in your life, but a satanist? Ah, I don't think so. 😇

The Scriptures were pointing to JESUS.

That’s why the Law was given, so that He would be recognized when He came because He fulfilled prophecy.

He didn’t come to reteach the Law. There was no need for that.

Again, this is an example of spinning events in the Bible so they don't point at you.
Jesus did not teach the Mosaic law, He taught the law of Abraham.

The prophecies were misinterpreted by those that only went to the scriptures to discern the truth. They relied on their own understanding and they ended up rejecting Jesus and crucifying Him.

That's the 800lb gorilla in the room.

He didn’t come to reteach the Law.

Ridiculous. That was 95% of all of what Jesus did. They had the Mosaic law, Jesus spend years teaching them the higher law of Abraham.

Matt 5:38
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Here's just one example of Jesus reteaching a higher law.

Jesus taught that we have to appeal to God for the answer first in prayer and He would reveal the answer to us through the Holy Ghost. The answer might be in the scriptures, it might give us the answer in our minds, or through another person.

But relying on your own understanding of the scriptures is what caused the great apostasy and all the pain and suffering it brought with it.

You are trying to discern the things of God the exact same way the Pharisees did and your result has been the exact same.

Galatians 3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.

You can argue all you want that it's not true, but you'll have to take it up with the Holy Spirit who told us that.

Galatians 3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.

That's not Galatians 3:24.
This is:
Galatians 3:
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

I thought the Bible was the ultimate authority? When did you switch over to the Holy Spirit?

I mean before it was, if it's not in my Bible it didn't exist...and now it's Holy Spirit.

I made the point earlier that the Pharisees followed your doctrine of, "if it's not in the Bible it didn't happen", and they couldn't come to the fact that Jesus was the Son of God.

And to make sure you get around that point you're now throwing the Holy Spirit into the mix so you have an out.

And you're fine with people re-translating the Bible as long as they make the words sound closer to what you want them to say...

Do you not see that on one hand you're claiming "The Bible is the INERRANT WORD OF GOD!" and then on the other hand you're saying "yea but we have to touch them up a little bit"????

Joseph Smith's words of:"We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly;", begin to have serious meaning.

I hope your heart softens before the events related to Luke 13 occur. I really do.

And how is the difference in wording significant?

It says the same thing.

The purpose of the Law was to bring us/lead us to Christ.

It was NOT given so that by keeping it we could be saved.

I've heard that Mormonism says the KJV bible is suspect.

Why does SLC still use it?

It DOES have an alternate.

JOSEPH SMITH TRANSLATION - REVELATION

Revelation 1:1–8

1 The Revelation of John, a servant of God, which was given unto him of Jesus Christ, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass, that he sent and signified by his angel unto his servant John,

2 Who bore record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3 Blessed are they who read, and they who hear and understand the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein, for the time of the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

4 Now this is the testimony of John to the seven servants who are over the seven churches in Asia. Grace unto you, and peace from him who is, and who was, and who is to come; who hath sent forth his angel from before his throne, to testify unto those who are the seven servants over the seven churches.

5 Therefore, I, John, the faithful witness, bear record of the things which were delivered me of the angel, and from Jesus Christ the first begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth.

6 And unto him who loved us, be glory; who washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God, his Father. To him be glory and dominion, forever and ever. Amen.

7 For behold, he cometh in the clouds with ten thousands of his saints in the kingdom, clothed with the glory of his Father. And every eye shall see him; and they who pierced him, and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 For he saith, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 2:26–27

26 And to him who overcometh, and keepeth my commandments unto the end, will I give power over many kingdoms;

27 And he shall rule them with the word of God; and they shall be in his hands as the vessels of clay in the hands of a potter; and he shall govern them by faith, with equity and justice, even as I received of my Father.

Revelation 12:1–17

1 And there appeared a great sign in heaven, in the likeness of things on the earth; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

2 And the woman being with child, cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

3 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up unto God and his throne.

4 And there appeared another sign in heaven; and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman which was delivered, ready to devour her child after it was born.

5 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore years.

6 And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought against Michael;

7 And the dragon prevailed not against Michael, neither the child, nor the woman which was the church of God, who had been delivered of her pains, and brought forth the kingdom of our God and his Christ.

8 Neither was there place found in heaven for the great dragon, who was cast out; that old serpent called the devil, and also called Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth; and his angels were cast out with him.

9 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ;

10 For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 For they have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; for they loved not their own lives, but kept the testimony even unto death. Therefore, rejoice O heavens, and ye that dwell in them.

12 And after these things I heard another voice saying, Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, yea, and they who dwell upon the islands of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13 For when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14 Therefore, to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might flee into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

15 And the serpent casteth out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

16 And the earth helpeth the woman, and the earth openeth her mouth, and swalloweth up the flood which the dragon casteth out of his mouth.

17 Therefore, the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And how is the difference in wording significant?

You're missing the point, if God inspired the King James version, then God wanted it that way. What right do these men claim to have that allows them to alter those words? God's word doesn't need a touch up. And you just go right along with it...

It was NOT given so that by keeping it we could be saved.

The law doesn't save. But if we do not keep the law we cannot be saved.

Heavenly Father gave the law through His Son, then commanded everyone to follow it. Surely you're not claiming that we can ignore the law and be saved anyways are you?

Btw, you didn't answer the question, is the Bible the final authority or not?

You're missing the point, if God inspired the King James version, then God wanted it that way.

What planet are you from? Who ever said that God inspired the King James Version?

If you're going to, ironically, argue for or against the integrity of Scripture, which we know Mormons don't follow anyway, please learn something about how the Bible has been translated.

Do you follow the book of Mormon?

Do you not already think the Bible is not correct? Then how can you chastise someone else over what you perceive as an *incorrect* translation of any verse?

The law doesn't save. But if we do not keep the law we cannot be saved.

That's speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

Keeping the law doesn't get you saved or keep you saved.

Keeping the law does not contribute one iota to salvation.

Heavenly Father gave the law through His Son, then commanded everyone to follow it. Surely you're not claiming that we can ignore the law and be saved anyways are you?

Grace and mercy come through the Son. The law was already in effect in the OT. If salvation could be by the law, Christ died for nothing.

Btw, you didn't answer the question, is the Bible the final authority or not?

Yes, Scripture is the final authority.

“They declared Adam and Eve to be “metaphors” a long time ago.”

Incorrect.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

# 375 The Church, interpreting the symbolism of biblical language in an authentic way, in the light of the New Testament and Tradition, teaches that our first parents, Adam and Eve, were constituted in an original “state of holiness and justice”. This grace of original holiness was “to share in. . . divine life”.

# 390 The account of the fall in Genesis 3 uses figurative language, but affirms a primeval event, a deed that took place at the beginning of the history of man. Revelation gives us the certainty of faith that the whole of human history is marked by the original fault freely committed by our first parents.

You're missing the point, if God inspired Joseph Smith to CORRECT the King James version, then God wanted it that way.

So...

Why DOESN'T Mormonism actually USE what GOD wanted?

Why is the INSPIRED VERSION like Holy Water to Dracula?
