The religious right is worried about Scott Walker
Business Insider ^ | May 15, 2015 | Leslie Larson

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), the son of a Baptist minister and an outspoken evangelical in his own right, may still have some work to do to court conservative Christians.

The governor is mulling a bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and will head to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday for a meet and greet with 50 evangelical leaders, who are said to be unsure of how deeply rooted Walker's convictions are on social issues like abortion and gay marriage.

"Clearly he's not well known within Washington, D.C., with social conservative leaders. He's more known for his battle with unions in Wisconsin," Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, told Politico, which first reported the meeting.

"I think people are wondering, 'Where does he stand?'" Perkins added.

Perkins did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider about what he hoped to gain from the gathering next week or which topics he plans to address with Walker.

Perkins has previously raised questions about Walker's beliefs, advising in a February FRC newsletter: "If Governor Walker wants to woo Christian conservatives, he might start by recognizing faith's importance in the very profession he's in."(continued)

My post history indicates I’m not a part of the religious right? hahaha. That’s junk.

"Angry bitter atheism/agnosticism does not become you."

Not reading two of my posts correctly does not become you. I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. Sheesh, if you can't comprehend what you read, don't bother to reply to me. Have a nice day.

No it doesn’t, not going back a couple of years, did I see you coming off as Evangelical, or part of the religious right, in fact you seem pretty religiously liberal.

Are we a nation of religious tolerance or do we sanctify only Christianity? Anyone practicing a different religion isn’t worth a crap?

Is America a La Cosa Nostra for Christians?

Shall I tell my Buddhist wife that she’s unacceptable to Americans because of her Buddhist beliefs?

My mother was Pentacostal. That’s a cult. Her whole day was spent worrying about ‘the church’, putting everything second to the ‘pastor’. That church also liked to empty your pockets in the name of God.

Tony Perkins needs to brush up on Scott Walker’s REAL position on abortion. Walker is for no abortion of any kind right across the board.

"Sheesh, just vote for the guy who best represents the Constitution and leave your religious persuasions at home or in your church."

If they did that in 08' we might have President Thompson the last 6 years, and Huckabee would be a footnote in History...

Sheesh, just vote for the guy who best represents the Constitution and leave your religious persuasions at home or in your church. Any wonder why I'm not a person of faith? You think you all know better than the other Christian. Disclaimer: The above said, I believe in the Judeo/Christian values that built this once great country. My motto regarding humanity: "Do unto others... "

BIG OL' BUMP

...That doesn't come from any Bible belief, but from my own inherent sympathy, empathy, and compassion.

Er ... um, actually, it does. You weren't just born with the Golden Rule inherent. It's taught. The Judeo-Christian ethic created Western Civilization.

Being nice to each other is taught.

Otherwise there'd be no such thing as "civilizations" with live human sacrifice and other barbaric practices. It's just that we spring from so many generations rooted in a society so deeply Christian in one way, so civilized that women can roam relatively freely, that we've come to take it for granted and think it's inherent. It's inherent with the Judeo-Christian ethic, specifically.

Still, BUMP!! It's outside of politics as long as you live the golden rule, and a lot of great Americans (I'm related to a bunch) who don't outwardly call themselves Christian, still live whole good lives by that rule and personally, I think the Lord would approve, but it's none of my business.

Toleration does not mean that one must think that all religions are equal in one’s eyes. Rather it stands for a fair competition of ideas, relying on persuasion rather than force.

I’m a social conservative who prefers Walker. But I’d happily vote for Cruz, if nominated.

This nation was founded by Christians as most of us had European ancestors. Now, I have a number of retired SF NCO’s as friends who married women from either Germany or the Orient. Yes, some are Buddha followers as are most Thai and Taiwanese. LTC Grossman is a damn joke who never saw combat.

You seem to have many issues, from rage to hating the guy who wrote the Sheepdog essay for some reason, whatever the reason I don’t care, but bringing him up here and in 2 PMs is enough, I get it, the guy isn’t a combat veteran, for whatever relevance that has to anything on this thread.

I recently read he is for dividing Israel, a two state solution. That really, really disturbed me about him. He doesn’t know his Bible or else he would know not to do this as God’s curses will be upon The USA. It’s fundamental.
