I’m sorry, but I don’t like Gaudi’s architecture. It is garish, ugly, in my view.

I didn’t much care for “Stereotomy”.

Some good songs on it, especially "Limelight" with Gary Brooker with the vocals.

de gustibus ...

“Closer to Heaven” and “Paseo de Gracia” really spoke to me.

What does even the most unimaginably beautiful building have to do with such things as conviction of sin, remorse, repentance or supplication?

Only a consciousness of personal sin and the need of a Savior, brought to bear upon a soul by the Holy Spirit can lead to repentance and faith, resulting in Salvation.

“Except ye repent and be converted ye shall all likewise perish” is so plain, unequivocal and final, I’d sure hate to hang my Eternal Salvation on whether or not a tour of even the most stunning edifice gave me goosebumps. But that’s just me.

Like the gates of heaven, it is an entrance to discovering and learning about the faith of the individual who created this structure. The building, in and of itself, elevates the heart and mind heavenward. The rest is up to God.

Beauty can never be evil. Beauty is truth, truth is beauty.

That looks like it was designed by the State Committee for Religious Buildings. Other mormon structures give me the same impression.

Mormon architecture and Masonic architecture are the same, for all intents and purposes.

You might want to check out “The Time Machine”, as well as “Try Anything Once”. Both contain some very good tracks.

An artistic wonder.
I saw it in 2002.
I do wonder what it is costing Barcelona to build it.

“Beauty can never be evil.”

I would very much disagree. See posts 7 and 15 for examples. I think that it is too easy to get swayed over by “beauty” (handsome men, beautiful women, nice cars, etc.) that while not evil in themselves, can lead to evil, or deceive us.

And of course, the most beautiful thing that ever happened was Jesus whipped and hanging on a cross for us. Looks can be deceiving.

True beauty can never, ever be evil. You are confusing good looks and nice cars with transcendent beauty.

Agreed on true beauty, but this thread was about how nice a building looks.

Gawdy looking building...It's like the guy started out, ran out of ideas and then took off in a completely direction...Nothing flows together...Something out of a Harry Potter movie...Nothing more than a tourist trap...

Barcelona, Spain, Apr 30, 2015 / 04:02 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Though the renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi died nearly 90 years ago and his best-known work remains under construction, the beauty of the Sagrada Familia basilica continues to draw people to Christ.

This is a most absurd statement in view of the scriptures...

FYI, though: I think such a work of beauty DOES inspire one to seek God. The only flaw is that in that instance, it points the wrong way *to* God.
