Mary Carberry gathers papers exposing her as ‘Maria Divine Mercy’
IRISH MAIL ON SUNDAY via Midway Street blog ^ | 02/08/2015 | Mark Saseen

Posted on 04/25/2015 6:25:45 AM PDT by FourtySeven

One week after exposing Ireland resident Mary McGovern-Carberry as the ‘secret’ Catholic visionary “Maria Divine Mercy,” the Irish Mail on Sunday featured her again…gathering up all available copies of the 1 February 2015 publication near her Malahide home. The former owner of McGovern PR should have known better.

The public relations consultant, who fell on hard financial times in recent years, transformed herself into an all-internet, all-secret ‘visionary’ in 2011 gathering millions of Irish-Mail-Inside-2-Feb-8-1followers who purchased her books and medals. Store security cameras caught Carberry – who, as Maria Divine Mercy, called herself the last prophet, angel and victim soul – hauling hundreds of copies to her car giving contrasting explanations for her curious behavior. Carberry’s ‘Jesus’ communicated almost daily through his ‘angel’, but has been silent for 12 days now, a sign, perhaps, that the Malahide Madam is now ‘out of favor’ with celestial forces.

For those unaware, this is a relatively unknown but surprisingly popular cult (among those that do know about it) that has sprung up in recent years among Catholics (and some non-Catholics). It involves a woman who goes by the pseudonym "Maria Divine Mercy" who claims all sorts of visions and messages from Jesus about the end-times, and how the Pope (Francis) is an anti-pope, and how he's really the foretold false prophet.

I thought I'd post this after hearing about this woman for the first time on Catholic Answers (and how she was a fraud), and I wanted to know more about her and her "visions". (so I could be prepared if such a cult arose at my parish).

First, and what should be a final say on the matter for any faithful Catholic, a statement from the Archdiocese of Dublin on this matter is found here where the messages are condemned, in as strong a language as any purported visions or messages can be so condemned in the Church.

Secondly, the reason I posted from the blog was because of the following images there:

and..

This PDF file which is a picture of the Irish Mail on Sunday article. (for some reason, I guess for marketing purposes, the article isn't online, I searched for two hours looking for a direct link from the Irish Mail on Sunday online to no avail; if anyone can find one feel free to post it).

I think actions speak louder than any words in this case (and note, the blog I've linked to offers a free eBook for anyone's perusal should anyone wish to read the author's research into this woman), but again I think actions speak louder than words here, and..

...first for the website that's been up for almost 4 years promoting the "visions", to suddenly be taken down after the article in the Irish Mail on Sunday came out speaks volumes.

Also, regarding what I've posted here, the most damning evidence, in my opinion, is that the woman alleged to be this "Maria Divine Mercy", the day the Irish Mail article came out, went out to a number of convenience shops in her immediate county and bought ALL the copies thereof! Why would she do this if she wasn't indeed this mysterious "Maria Divine Mercy"?

It seems "case closed" to me, and thanks to this Mark Saseen for all his work into this area. I only hope and pray that this scam artist profits no more from her evil work, and that those she deceived come to know the truth.

This coming Monday is the last meeting for this year’s RCIA program. Last week we talked about evangelization and how our new Catholics were called to this. Despite our best efforts they still seem to have a lot of unanswered questions. :-D

So I know that they are going to go on-line to look for answers although they have the Catechism, the Compendium, and Youcat. I know that there are the following:
Catholic.com
Catholicanswers
Catholic365

Comments or concerns from Catholic freepers would be appreciated. I would like to share any resource consistent with Church teachings with my sponsoree and the rest of the class.

Reminds me of the newspaper advice columnist Guru Brahmin in the movie THE LOVED ONE.

Come to find out, he was just a hack writer on the newspaper staff. Not Indian, not a guru.

***promoting the “visions”,***

I remember seeing the STAR tabloid with the headline JEAN DIXON SAYS NIXON WILL NOT RESIGN! in biggest boldest letters on the cover .
It hit the news stands the very week Nixon resigned.

Ten years later, her publicity staff made the claim that she HAD predicted the resignation, yet I remember several times before when she had said Nixon would not resign.

I believe she also predicted George Romney would be President in 1968.

Mercat,

If I were you - and you can ignore this of course - I would recommend that you offer to host some sort of follow up shindig with your RCIA attendees in a month and then do it again in September (where they could meet the new RCIA attendees to feel reconnected!). Even a possible meeting in the summer (although people are all over the place with vacations). Follow up meetings help keep RCIA people involved even after they’ve finished RCIA.

I’ll send you another suggestion by private message.

Things like this is why I tell my Catechism class that they need to know their faith so they don’t fall for the lies of others.

Fatima is OK. Medjugorje is not.

And none of the visionary kids or their families got rich over Fatima

Catholics are a very superstitious people...they love visions and signs.. they love having a prophet .. and so someone like this can share her demonic visions and romanists will follow like sheep to the slaughter (literally)

Mat 16:4"An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away.

Symbolon with Edward Sri is what we used but not all of it. We really had a good time doing small group discussions etc. I love Father Barron and we did some of his three years ago. I’ll look at the other resources. We are so blessed.

Those links are all good for the new and cradle Catholic alike.

Also for evangelization, http://streetevangelization.com is good. Many helpful ideas there as well as a way to network with other street evangelizers.

God Bless,

Putting all Catholics in one category isn’t a cool thing to do, for it makes the statement a falsehood.
