Personally I don’t get the need of some Protestants to constantly come into threads that are clearly about Catholicism just to push their anti-Catholic/Protestant views. I get that it is an open thread (ie. not a Catholic Caucus), but why even bother with it? I never go into Protestant-related threads. It is a complete waste of my time and energy.

And to be clear, I’m not talking about those who bring positive, productive points to the discussion.

Would bowing/ head nod be a more correct term? I notice you didn’t address the other points. Were they false also?

Christians were to spread the Gospel. The Good News is we have an Intercessor before God on our behalf that we can address directly. We don't need priests/popes to "forgive" us. We don't need to pray to 'saints". We can pray to God. If our only strength is in our church/denomination, then that has replaced God in our lives. Jesus decried the Pharisees for being legalistic and rigid. Who has replaced them?

Jesus and his disciples were practicing Jews, so I expect their religious observances reflected this fact.

Once the Church was established, the disciples did indeed practice their Catholic faith.

And I feel like I've had this discussion before, but on the off chance that you're a goldfish, I will remind you that Protestants burned Catholics alive as well.

I suppose that as long as they’re attacking Catholic Dogma, they can push the emptiness of their own teachings out of mind. At least to some degree.

Really? Any chapter and verse on their Catholicism?

I will remind you that Protestants burned Catholics alive as well.

The context was the comparison of Jesus teachings and todays denominational practices. Whether Catholic or Protestant, deviations from His teachings must be in error, don't you think?

Michael Voris has gone totally nutty. He’s been on a jihad against the SSPX, screaming “schism!” again and again and again.

This was a case of gross negligence. All that happened is that the Archdiocese of Chicago failed to make clear that only Catholics may receive Communion at a Catholic Mass.

What INFINITELY MORE SCANDALOUS is that Abp. Cupich is publicly committed to giving Communion to PRO-ABORTION CATHOLICS.

In other words: Archbishop Cupich is publicly committed to COMMITTING MORTAL SIN, because it is a mortal sin to ignore the mandate of Canon 915. It is ALWAYS a grave scandal.

With respect to the catholic church's rules, I see nothing in scripture that says anything beyond the need for each of us to examine ourselves before taking communion.

At the time St. Paul was writing, all Christians were Catholics. That's why St. Paul doesn't mention "intercommunion."
