yes, I feel this way too.
Look to our Sorrowful Mother; the Rosary; the Way of the Cross, especially “Everyone’s Way of the Cross” by Clarence Enzler. One of the things he said was “Protect me from the sin of Judas; save me from despair!” Ask for help from the Holy Spirit who “asks for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in speech”. Pray to your Guardian angel and ask God to give you an example in a saint. Then thank and praise God. Those things have kept me going on in some of my worst times, some of which are on the present. I will pray for you. God bless you and Mary keep you! God hasn’t forsaken you; offer your suffering united with His on the Cross and it will have infinite value! You’re never forgotten, no matter how it may seem! Ask St Michael to help take thoughts of despair from your heart! God be with you!
Excellent advice.
I’m not a catholic, and I don’t follow sainthood per se. But you can bet your boots, every one of these saints would have been a fine and good person to have lived next door to.
Their stories from our Catholic bretheren need to be passed around and enjoyed by all Christians.
I have a prayer on my homepage that he wrote when he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. I say it every day. I read his "Dialogue of Comfort Against Tribulation" and it was truly a comfort to me. He really was, "A Man For All Seasons!"
This struck me; I never thought of it before, but he is the first apostate. That can only mean that he wants others. No wonder the attack on the Church is so vicious and palpable.
Thank God Almighty for the Church in all her glory, including the Saints of the Church Triumphant, whose aid is essential.
Psalm 23
Yes,though I walk through the valley of death, You are with me. Your rod and your staff, the comfort me.
He’s there, even when you can’t see Him, just like the sun and stars are there when you can’t see them for the clouds.
The person going through the trial should use this opportunity to seek hard after Him. He promised that He would be found by those who seek for Him with their whole heart.
A book for good reading about someone who went through his own life and death struggle, that is frank and candid about his own struggles with his faith is “An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey” by John Stumbo. (a pastor)
And I will pray for your intentions.
Have not read up on the other two.
Comments anyone?
Wonderful prayer there from Cardinal Newman!
Most people have had feelings of despair and hopelessness at some time or another. But God never forgets us. He loves us and wants us to be happen. The devil, however, wants us to be miserable and to forget God’s love.
Please, please, heed what metmom has written here.
I copied it, as well, and I plan to add it to my daily prayers. Used the “find” and “replace” to change all of the plural pronouns to singular.
Excellent observation.
That would be wonderful, thank you, and God bless you!
+1
May I also suggest that you post a prayer thread on FR for the person in despair that you have mentioned. FR Prayer Warriors will respond heartily. They have helped me many times through various trials.
Thanks you for your positive attitude.
Thanks for your suggestion.
