And so begins yet another sorrowful round of Christian infighting between the born again evangelicals and the Catholics.

These threads do not serve the Lord God in any way. I am sorry that the good Christians here cannot refrain from posting doctrinal articals that only lead to fighting between us.

Suffice to say, I Love you anyway and as a Catholic, I am happy to turn the other cheek.

God Bless you!

Very clear and exact...thank you for posting this. At the very least it might help catholics understand what is so difficult for them to do regarding the issue.

Sorry that so many catholics continue to post curt remarks rather then discuss the topic......in time they do float away which leaves those interested in discussion ...so I’ll patiently wait while the sifting occurs.

Am enjoying your articles a great deal...so again thanks for posting them.

And the angel said to the women at the tomb of Jesus, “ why do you seek the living among the dead “ or in dead places..

God’s word forbids us to talk or communicate to the dead period.

Their Catholic religion is completely foreign to the scriptures...A square plug in a round hole...

while the Catholic church is so stupid after 2,015 years concerning religious teachings...and after (how old are you) years on Earth, you are brilliant...somehow reformed..and thus justified...your VERY POOR AND UNEDUCATED decision is somehow being justified by your newfound interpretation of truth

Yeah, that'll do it O.K.

As a Roman Catholic, on another thread, I have asked my fellow Catholics to pray for the Rev. Dr. Sproul and his full return to health because we can ill afford to lose the acknowledged major leaders of any truly Christian group.

I thank you for citing the language of James 5:16. I am not as quick with Scripture as are many of my Reformed siblings.

In the same vein, I ask your prayers for my still quite precarious health. Last Thanksgiving, I suffered a near fatal kidney failure and was not expected to live. I went into coma on Thanksgiving and remained in coma until a few days before Christmas. I was given a printout of FR posts of people generously making my health the object of their prayers and I am convinced that those prayers were effective and that God has granted me a return to conscious life and to my home.

While you and I may differ on the details of our respective faiths, we no doubt agree on many of the essentials. Whether we agree on everything or not, I ask your prayers and those of everyone else of whatever faith for the continued progress of my health through the merits of Jesus Christ and in His name. Jesus Christ is my Lord And Savior as He is yours.

May God bless you and yours.

How utterly amazing that a simple thread explaining why Reformed faiths generally reject the doctrines of prayers to and for the dead, Purgatory and the intercession of dead Saints immediately fostered a backlash of accusations of "hate", "Catholic bashing", spreading of discord and ignorance of Catholic doctrine. That is the knee-jerk reaction of some here who have NO problem at all when Catholics post threads that criticize and counter non-Catholic beliefs and assert they alone have the fullness of the Christian faith, but DARE post a thread that can be seen as critical of their beliefs and the fur starts flying!

The article was in no way insulting or bashing of Catholics and should not have been taken as such. The hair-trigger "feelings" of those who DID take offense only proves that they do not have the temperament to join in OPEN Religion Forum threads. It's too bad they succeed in side tracking and diverting the actual topic. It's one that all Christians should not be afraid to address. Though it is not what could be called a "salvific" issue, it is still an area that would benefit us all to talk about. Personally, I do not see this as a detriment to having a FULL Christian faith and I'm not at all afraid to explain why.
