Todd: If Cruz Can Win Evangelical Vote, He Has a Shot
Breitbart TV ^ | March 28, 2015 | Ian Hanchett

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd discussed how Ted Cruz could have a shot at the nomination by riding the evangelical vote to victory in a YouTube video released Friday.

Todd pointed out that in the past candidates can get “relevancy” from the evangelical vote, but no one has been able to use it to win the nomination. But that Cruz, if he can clinch the evangelical vote, might be able to change that because “this primary calendar, believe it or not, is actually in the advantage of evangelical candidates.”

Todd stated that two of the first four primary states, Iowa and South Carolina, have primary electorates that are majority evangelical. He continued that many Deep South states with majority evangelical electorates are thinking of having their primaries on Super Tuesday....

From what I’ve seen and heard, Sen. Cruz is the Trey Gowdy of the Senate. He is not afraid of anybody.

News flash. Hildebeast will likely not even be running as she will be trying stay out of prison.

Who is going to beat Ted Cruz? Mitt Walker? I don’t think so. Walker still does not know what he wants to be when he grows up. Jeb? Marco? No way. Rand Paul? Not likely.

I have long argued at FR and elsewhere that for the past three decades the Evangelical vote is THE key to the GOP. If the GOP manages to arouse and enthuse the Evangelicals, the GOP wins. If they do not, they do not.

This model has been borne out every one of the past 16 elections. When the Rovian leftists/collectivists prevail the Evangelicals feel no affinity for the candidate and stay home. If the candidates can persuade and excite the Evengelicals, even when that sausion is dishonest, like W who campaigned as an Evangelical and governed like the leftist Methodist he is, they show up in droves.

Hillary would skewer him and the press won’t give him a chance.

Hillary and the press will skewer any Republican candidate.

So might as well pick a candidate that will rally the base and rally voters who have stopped voting for RINOs.

“I have long argued at FR and elsewhere that for the past three decades the Evangelical vote is THE key to the GOP.”

That is a fact. I cannot begin to tell you how many Christian friends I have that simply will not vote for a socially liberal candidate. I for one, am one who will not pull the lever for you if you support gay marriage or abortion..... not ever. The big problem is that so many stay home, even though there are other good conservatives on the ballot in most cases.

I do go to the ballot box, but I do my research. I never vote for a democrat or a libertarian. The only chance you have to get my vote is to have an R next to your name But if you are a social liberal I simply leave that particular office blank and vote for no one. I just move along to the next set of names/offices.

I didn’t stay home because Mitt was on the ballot. I just skipped right by his name.

has to draw votes from the center and just slightly left, to get the winning numbers.

That is the 'conventional wisdom' of the GOP-E. It led to Dole through Romney losing.

Why do you keep such faith in losing 'wisdom'?

I’m content to wait until after the elections in 2016 ... and then you can do the analysis on where the numbers came from, and let me know where I went wrong ... :-) ...

So am I. And bet I will if my willpower holds. I've seen Cruz in action, against GOP-E favorites. Not the same as running for President, that's for sure. He always screws up their 'received wisdom'.

But the 'conventional wisdom' of the GOP-E has not won any elections. Romney lost because he was a liberal.

People will vote for conservatives. Republicans don't need liberal republicans to win elections. Republicans don't need liberal voters to win.

The liberal GOP-E doesn't want to hear that because it can cost their jobs, so that's why they spread the meme you just tried to spread.

I’m not lobbying for anything ... I’m simply stating what I think is true ... whether anyone believes me or not. I know that if I’m right, it will be borne out in the same way that Reagan’s election was borne out. Otherwise, we’ll see more of the same as the last few elections.

So I don’t really care whether anyone believs me or not ... or neither do I care to try to convince anyone that I will be right, because I don’t have to prove it ... as the election will be all the proof needed.

That's great - he's not electable on a national scale despite what FR wants to believe....

The base alone doesn't elect anyone. Neither does playing to the middle. The problem is the GOP seems to play to the middle in the general and the base in the primaries. There has to be a middle ground between those two points.

Cruz at the top of the ticket will give us President Hillary. And to be honest, I have reservations about another President with basically zero executive experience.

As if Obama's problems are because he is inexperienced.

Every Republican who has not come out and congratulated Ted Cruz on his declaring his candidacy needs to be primaried.

90%, so far. Rience Priebus has been silent. And McConnell. And Boehner. And Cornyn.

Only dumb-founded RINOs can’t find words to speak. GO CRUZ!

Mikey, you may want to get new batteries in your crystal ball.

I’ve seen this before, and I know things are different now, but Cruz brings things that excite people. When the LIV voters hear him, they will believe.

It happened to me in 1980 with Ronald Reagan. ...

So you probably would be more comfortable with say a Jimmy Carter?

How about a Bill Clinton??

Maybe a Franklin Roosevelt???

My point being there have been many truly AWFUL Governors and well as some good ones. There have also been around 16 Presidents who did not have Executive Experience, some of those Presidents were not only decent, some were good.

The need for "Executive Experience" is highly overrated.

For example, let's take Scott Walker.

Many of his fans point to his "Executive Experience" and his "getting things done" as making him a better choice than Ted Cruz, even though the conservative fidelity of Scott Walker is much less than Ted Cruz.

Walker has had a GOP Controlled Legislature. It is THE ONLY REASON he has gotten anything done. If he did not have a GOP Controlled Legislature, he would have gotten nothing done that would have been commendable from a conservative perspective.

The GOP controlled legislature is the ones who deserve commendation because they did all the heavy lifting of getting the bills to Walker's Desk. All Walker had to do was sign the bills and yet his supporters ignore all of this.

Why?
