The one true thing the old Southern Presbyterian Church, the PCUS, brought to the PCUSA was a profound belief in the Scriptures and a trust in the Scripture alone, and although it took forty-two years for the Progressives to erode the conviction and belief in the Bible as the authoritative Word of God, they have finally succeeded and the Church I have loved has become a social institution dedicated to listening to the desires of the unrepentant rather than serving the purposes of Jesus. The Presbyterian Church USA no longer has a foundation based on a true belief and acceptance of the Bible as the rule and guide to faith. Thus the church has become rudderless and will be blown by the winds of time and desire a simple civic club dedicated to the cause of the day. I am soul sad because the church which was trying to be good and honorable, to accept and love the lost, has forgotten the role repentance and remorse has to play, balance has been lost and never again will the PCUSA be able to proclaim a true witness to Biblical integrity. A void has been created, values have been swept away, honor has been lost and lives will never be the same.

We face the same problem at our church who is also a member of PCUSA. I will not belong to a church that condones sin. The church once changed their affiliation; I’m praying they will do so once again.

If you don’t believe that there will come a time when those churches who refuse to perform gay marriages will be persecuted, then you are a fool.

You don’t need a smaller church, you need a bigger one.

Time to leave, for the honor and glory of God. He will bless.

Our small PCUSA took a straw vote a couple weeks ago. It was 100% to leave PCUSA over all of the issues. We aren’t eve interested very much in the “Gracious Release.” We just are done with them. We will try it, but if it doesn’t we are prepared to leave the beautifully restored 150 year old church.

The PCUSA has had abortion coverage in their clergy health insurance since the 1970’s — knowingly and deliberately, not by accident or oversight. Their apostasy is not new.

Paraphrasing Psalm 146;

Put not your faith in man made institutions,

Happy is he... whose hope is in the LORD his God.

May God Bless this man as he seeks to do God’s will, not PCUSA’s.

I think it is issues like this that give Christians opportunities to show whom they serve. Also,if you love your fellow man and they are involved in homosexuality then it is easy to stand by the Word of God because it rescues them.

How many Catholic Universities do the same?

Nope.

Once changed, meaning they became PCUSA? Not the typical direction.

I read the promise to respect conscience as an utterly empty promise, soon broken, possibly not fulfilled even once.

I ache that some PCUSA members are “soul sad for their church”.
That said, each member of the local parish must certainly realize that their identified ^church^ cannot be identified as “my church”.
The PCUSA is wholly owned by the culture and the politically correct requirements that come along with such a capitulation.
Enjoy your heterodoxy.

Where was he when they changed the scripture they preach to eliminate things like homosexuality..where was he when they became gay and abortion friendly .. where was he when the withdrew investments from Israel..where was he when they added other confessions to the Westminster and became Universalism friendly ... he is sad now when the final chickens came home to roost? Too little too late

I’m PCA and have never been PCUSA but I feel sorry for many of these
fellow Presbyterians who have been deceived for so long. Some of them have championed the causes that have brought the PCUSA to this point, but many have just been along for the ride, ignoring what they can and rationalizing the rest. I have some good friends who are PCUSA and we enjoy some good-natured rivalry from time to time, but the time has come for them to decide: Christ or Culture?

I’m not going to berate them for not doing more to stop this. But I will invite them to move over to the PCA.

I have family who are politically conservative and attend one of the liberal mainline churches.

They keep telling me that their church is conservative. I keep pounding home that any money they put in the offering plate goes right to the home office that supports all manner of sin. They just give me a deer in the headlights look.
