American Conservative ^ | March 14, 2015 | Rod Dreher

Read it, and consider what a parish priest and a Catholic high school principal will do to a veteran teacher and parish worker who spoke intemperately on Facebook about homosexuality, ticking off Susan Sarandon and a drama queen who was on the Real Housewives of New Jersey:

The offensive remark was something the teacher posted on Facebook.

After remarking on the dubious proposition that protection of gays and lesbians as a class can be brought within the ambit of the Fourteenth Amendment, Januzzi wrote: “In other words they [advocates of same-sex marriage] want to reeingineer western civ into a slow extinction. We need healthy families with a mother and a father for the sake of the children and humanity!!!!”

If the Catholic Church isn’t willing to defend its teachings, then what is the point?

I was going to make a snarky comment about too many queers on the alumni contributors list but after reading the whole thing I’m just too disgusted to make fun of it. Stupid AmChurch is back with a vengeance.

A Catholic friend once said to me, “Many Catholic schools are just college prep schools that teach little foundation in Christian education, and that may be worse than public schools.” He may be right.

As a Catholic School veteran from K-12, I will admit that the Catholic education is basic, but the education and discipline you learn are way extremely worth the tuition.

People have the right to speak their minds and employers have the right to employ who they want. Many times we read of employees of Cathoic schools who are found out to be either Gay or who have children out of wedlock and are removed from their positions and rightfully so.

This case seems to be the opposite.

I recommend to anyone who wants to keep their jobs or stay out of jail or keep their spouses to think hard before they expound on things on social media to perhaps think up a good alias or just not open their mouthes on said media.

Of course if you are going to take a stand for your beliefs and are not concerned with repercussions then good for you. I respect that. But if you need that job and don’t want to jeopardize it, consider being a little more circumspect

Why was she so silly to post it on Facebook?

Not very prudent on her part.

Prudence
Justice
Fortitude
Temperance

Michael Voris of Church Militant calls it the “Church of Nice”. These “leaders” are leading their flock down the road to perdition. Shepherds of the faithful they are not!

Grammar was a premium for Catholic School. However, over the years, I have gotten lazy especially on the computer.

I’m kind of surprised by your response. Have we really entered a time when it’s imprudent to post what the teacher posted on facebook? The culture war is over and the other side won?

Good Catholics have to ushered out of the Edifice so that the antichrist can do his thing.

Oh, you think I'm kidding?

agree with you. The way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing....or say nothing.. salvation surprised me with her response.

Sorry, but “prudence” doesn’t mean being afraid to state the truth. She was in a private conversation, expressing her opinion (as Americans used to be free to do), not attacking anyone personally, and simply stating what is Catholic teaching and always has been.

She is not in the wrong.

What did the teacher actually SAY? I was unable to block off a lifetime to dig through the layers and find where the teacher said anything, what the heck it was, or to whom?????

We can at least FREEP this poll (it's in the middle of the first page, about an inch down):

http://www.nj.com/somerset/index.ssf/2015/03/your_comments_students_come_to_bat_for_teacher_who.html

And since we have the address of the school, can we not make our voices heard?

Ms. Jean Cline, Principal

Msgr. Seamus Brennan
Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish
Director, Immmaculata High School

Immaculata High School
240 Mountain Avenue
Somerville, NJ 08876
Phone (908) 72222-0200

By the way, I do not think this teacher failed in "prudence." Prudence entails (among other things) getting your facts straight, ordering things aright and knowing what's worth fighting for. This is worth fighting for.
