False choice....all or nothing figured out. Of course we cannot comprehend everything, figure everything out. But certain things He was very clear about.

Understanding what God said in His word is not having "God figured out".

I certainly agree with that sentiment, but I think the discussion revolves around what God Himself has revealed... not just human conjecture.

I believe the Bible was written so we could “figure God out”.

Does that mean that we always get our “figuring” right - NO! it doesn’t.

But, God graciously gave us the instructions anyway.

The Bible tells a story of a prophesy that was given about a Messiah. Well, that came true. So, even those many people who did NOT believe in a Messiah; they were witnesses to His arrival, His life, and His death.

You can be ready for whatever, by just accepting Christ as your Savior; finding a good church and growing in the knowledge of Him. If you do this, you will not be surprised by events.

Remember what Jesus told us, “... it has been given unto you to KNOW THE MYSTERIES AND SECRETS OF THE KINGDOM”.

Well, we do have the power of discernment. We are imperfect, but we still have the ability.

As for the hour of His return, we will not know the day or the hour.

“Now we see as through a glass darkly, but then face to face.”

This is why ANYONE who says their interpretation of scripture on ANY subject in the bible is THE correct one (with the exception of the thing symbolized by communion) is demonstrating that they don’t know what they don’t know.

I talked to a guy with a doctorate in theology a few weeks ago and he said something interesting. He said that regarding teachings of Christianity (other than its foundational teaching), the more vehemently a person argues that theirs is the correct interpretation and yours is absolutely wrong, the less they probably know, and the more likely it is they are just parroting what someone has told them.

I notice it in evolution discussions. The scientists actually studying evolution are not the ones beating you over the head with a copy of Darwin’s infamous tome.

John 17:2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should[a] give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Christians, by definition and election, "know God".

AMEN brother. A huge AMEN!

Many surprises lie ahead - especially for those who have it all figured out........

TWO things are clear and important in all that Jesus said about His return: Jesus is coming when no one expects it (”no one” includes all pre-trib folk); we’d better be READY and looking for His coming and living every moment like it’s our last.

If you are right about these two, the details don’t matter.
