I’m born again, born from above and any and all marks on my soul have been erased. The Catholic church has no claim on it, no matter how often they say it. They don’t own me.

God does.

Yep, that about sums it up. Same experience here. I wonder why some people have such a hard time understanding something SOOOOO simple? Maybe they are too busy trying to establish their own righteousness, to understand. Imagine standing before God, and trying to tell Him you led a good life, and you earned your ticket to Heaven. Why would anyone be so foolish they would try that? It's a mystery to me. 🚷🔥😱🙊🙈🙉

You were “born again” when you were baptised in the faith that was started by Christ himself. You denying the truth does not make it not true. Faithful Catholics that know and live their faith do not go looking elsewhere. Impossible.

I was born again when I chose to have Christ live in my heart by faith, when I asked Him to do that.

The dramatic change in my life at age 22 is testimony to the reality of that conversion experience.

My parents choosing to have me sprinkled in what the Catholic church calls baptism, does not impart the new birth.

John 1:11-13 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Those who received Him, who believed in His name. An infant cannot make that decision. When I believed/received, He made me His child born of HIS will, not the will of any man.

You were never a believing and faithful Catholic so you went looking elsewhere. Devout Catholics do not abandon Jesus in the Eucharist. Thanks for being honest. Please don’t reply to this. It’s ran it’s course.

Mind reading much?

Yup.

Problem with that kind of thinking is that it doesn't allow for the enlightening work of the Holy Spirit in one's life.

When the Holy Spirit removes the blindness and reveals the truth, then one does follow where the truth leads, and it isn't the Catholic church and its catechism.

It's Jesus and the Word.

The well-known and very popular Catholic couple, Scott and Kimberly Hahn, have been constantly travelling and speaking all over North America for the last few years about their conversion to the Catholic Church. Now these two outstanding Catholic apologists tell in their own words about the incredible spiritual journey that led them to embrace Catholicism. Scott Hahn was a Presbyterian minister, the top student in his seminary class, a brilliant Scripture scholar, and militantly anti-Catholic ... until he reluctantly began to discover that his “enemy” had all the right answers. Kimberly, also a top-notch theology student in the seminary, is the daughter of a well-known Protestant minister, and went through a tremendous “dark night of the soul” after Scott converted to Catholicism. Their conversion story and love for the Church has captured the hearts and minds of thousands of lukewarm Catholics and brought them back into an active participation in the Church. They have also influenced countless conversions to Catholicism among their friends and others who have heard their powerful testimony. Written with simplicity, charity, grace and wit, the Hahns’ deep love and knowledge of Christ and of Scripture is evident and contagious throughout their story. Their love of truth and of neighbor is equally evident, and their theological focus on the great importance of the family, both biological and spiritual, will be a source of inspiration for all readers.

Scott Hahn? By his own words was “ordained” by a couple of elders not affiliated with any denomination in order to avoid taxes. Now he’s worked his way into a real fine paying gig.

Scott Hahn admitted it himself.

"Mr. Hahn acknowledged these facts but offered an explanation. Trinity Presbyterian was an independent church with an average attendance of 30 when two of its elders laid hands on him in a private ceremony in 1982. He served as their Associate Pastor for about two years. The church remained independent until its closing in 1986. Mr. Hahn told me the reason for his private ceremony was because he did not feel he was very qualified to serve as an elder at age 26, but needed the ordination to take the pastor's exemption from Social Security."

When Scott Hahn was confirmed into the Catholic Church and went to confession every sin he had ever committed in his life was washed away. He could have been an axe murderer.

Scott Hahn is despised by protestants because he was a brilliant protestant theologian who became a Catholic. No other reason. If it was the way around he would be loved and stories about him leaving Catholicism would be called proof that Catholicism is a fake religion.

I suppose if you want to rely on speculation that works. I don't. My point was that his reason for being "anointed" was fraudulent by his own admission. His "brilliant protestant theologian" status only tells me he was influenced by the same educational institutions that have spawned many of today's apostates. His alma mater turns out women pastors like Laurel Coolbaugh and Dr. Lorrie Comeford. And Pete James who is pastor at the Presbyterian church who has half of it's elders who are women. He got his doctorate from Marquette University which is a Jesuit, Roman Catholic university for crying out loud.

So he goes from a Presbyterian College which turns out women pastors and ordains women elders to a Jesuit Roman Catholic University. I'm not impressed with those "brilliant protestant theologian" credentials.

If they want him so bad to hold up as an example, let them have him.

I sure am not interested in having a shyster like him claim to be a Christian.

It does Catholicism no good to hold up crooks like that as examples.

That's the way I see it. And those "brilliant theologian" guys haven't all been the stellar followers of the apostles either.

He was a fraud who presumed to use religion for tax evasion.

And St. Paul murdered and persecuted Christians. Do I have to tell you some of the vices of King David.

So once again Dr. Scott Hahn is despised by protestants because he could not live a lie anymore as a protestant. So he converted to the One, True, Faith.

Have a nice evening.

Sorry for the time delay. I really tried to figure out how to present my thoughts on this article “How we Got The Bible” and the dialog that followed. I was told on another thread there was a great deal of bashing by Catholics of non-Catholics who posted articles presenting their beliefs and thoughts. I got the impression that Catholics frequently asked that comments and posts and articles be banned. Others said that it was the non-Catholics who bashed the Catholics and while I have noted quite a bit of hostility and animosity on the threads I had never checked it out.

I asked for an example of the bashing and the two of you, redleghunter,(the original poster)and xone responded with this thread as an example of the generally vitriolic nature of the back and forth. I read the thread and I was stymied on how to present my “findings”.

First,I would like to say that I think much of the problem is due to the style that one uses. If one is not inclined to place a lot of weight on little details but is a big picture person detailed accounts are kind of boring and turn offs.

Likewise a casual presentation by the big picture person can be interpreted as sloppy, careless and somewhat insulting.Others think sarcasm is an effective way of making their point and readers may think it is highly offensive. Some are tired of saying the same thing over and over again, knowing that certain people will refuse to believe the information they are giving.

I am going to continue this another day but for tonight I will just say that there were 278 comments on the article, approximately 65 were submitted by what I considered to be identifiable Catholics,of those 58 were written by four posters and created discussions that in some cases got a little heated. Then there was one person who I know isn't Catholic but was very "cutesy" who commented approximately 40 times all of them appeared to be dissing or disdainful of Catholics,I don't think too many people responded.

I didn't notice anyone calling for the moderator to intervene and I didn't notice him/her entering the thread. Please do not hold me to a precise number since I have had to do this over a period of time and lose my notes or recount something and am too tired to go back and do it again. Yes, I m not a detail man/woman.

I told you I would get back to you after I considered the posts and responses. My first response was to give you a kind of overview of the thread and some numbers that I thought were telling as well as some info about different responses to for people with different mind sets and world views.

I have spent some time following comments and responses and I don't want this to create more problems so I will just say that one of the vets was more like me and a little flippant. When I look at many of the accusations and assumptions that are flung around and add it to the omission of common knowledge I too feel like being a little sarcastic. I did not think anything he said was inflammatory or incorrect,I thought the style might have offended some persons.

The second vet had picked up on the fact that the writer/lecturer was using Martin Luther to corroborate his position;however, Luther was a poor choice because of some of his vituperative comments on the Jews that were widely publicized, these were make after he left the church and serve to make him a less than credible spokesperson for the veracity of any ones position. I thought he was a little wordy but not in error. His wordiness was often out done by several of the most angry nonCatholic posters.

The next Catholic to respond in a manner that precipitated some anger was gentle and completely correct in what she said the person who was angry was not correct and was kind of nasty.

The last poster to draw somewhat angry comments had two legitimate questions based on the tenor of the article. To cut to the chase,he wanted to know how a "church" which was "invisible" could speak for anything if it was unidentifiable. I thought it was a legitimate query and needed an answer but it took twists and turns that resulted in no answer.

I did think that many of the nonCatholics were quite unkind and argumentative and argued without substantive informatiion in many cases.

My final wrap up is that if I were a Person in the Trinity I would be grateful that I had thought to send one member down to establish a Church and keep track of things else nothing would be much different than when "in the fullness of time" He sent His Son"----I did not see as much bashing from the Catholics as I had been led to believe there was. I these times we do need to be "One Body of Christ on Earth", "a house divided against itself cannot stand".
