What does that have to do with salvation?
Obviously Jesus didn’t believe Peter was satan...
There are places where it is clear the word is meant to describe a true person with a personality, but if you do a search on the word “satan” and also “devil” in the bible (hebrew lexicon gives similar meaning) you come away realizing that often the word simply means someone is being adversarial. And being adversarial to God’s word and actions is doing Satan’s bidding. Hence the meaning overlap.
The original idea is so good, that soon it wants to grow and open more. Unfortunately, the more franchises, the more likely some will stray from the original menu and mission statement.
Things will vary by region and local management, and all things change with time and as the original business changes hands through the generations.
Others, liking what they see and seeking their own take on the menu and mission and wanting to offer different menu items that appeal to different palates, open new and competing versions of the original.
Soon, that original mission statement is so watered down and diluted by time, personalities, competition, regulations, etc., that much of the original meaning is lost in the fight for customers and who has the most appealing menu and most attractive franchise.
These are boom times in Christian boom town, but I read ahead and there comes a time when the boom goes bust in the future.
AMEN!
“YOPIOS”
Good call. This has been going on for quite a while:

My sect is right and yours is wrong.
How is this different than Sunni vs Shiite each claiming they have the “true” interpretation if Islam?
Haven’t we been through all this before? If I recall my history it wasn’t pretty.
“What does that have to do with salvation?”
Everything if you believe Christ is the reason for your salvation.
There is no salvation outside Christ - it has NOTHING to do with the Catholic Church. You must be using a very unusual Bible.
So Ted Kennedy is saved, and Bill Clinton is going to hell. That hardly seems fair.
15But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am? 16Simon Peter answered, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17Jesus replied, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. (Matt 16).
The church is built on Revelation, not on a man. Read it again.
Amen.
Except when Christ said this in Aramaic Peter’s name Kepha is equated with the word for rock, kepha.
So lets get our LOGIC jam on now, shall we? The Church, of which there is only one, is the Body and Bride of Christ, and all of the saved either are now or eventually will be in the Church Triumphant, which indwells, now and forever, inside the Triune Godhead.
Not a single bit of scripture in the entire piece...Based on man's failed logic and deception and NOT the wisdom of God...
Salvation is not in or come from a religion or a church...Salvation is in and comes from a man...
Here is a paraphrase for those who don’t want to read it.
“MAT_16:18(RC) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my one true holy Roman Catholic Church; and the ones with pointy hats and wide collars can decide who gets into Heaven.”
You’re assuming that Ted Kennedy was inside the Church when he died.
Confused about Co-Redeemer Mary, Purgatory, the transubstantiation, and all sorts of extra Biblical teachings...
Where exactly did our Lord Jesus say the Roman Catholic church saves you ?
Paul, (he was an apostle) didn't he say in Act: 6:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
Must be a mistranslation...if Peter didn't say it, it 's probably wrong...

And everything revolves around the head of that cult. Joseph Smith Jr. is a prime example.
The NT was written in Greek. Peter = “petros” = small stone or pebble.
Jesus used “petra” for rock, which means bedrock or enormous rock.
This is right in line with Peter’s own words in Peter 1 4-6, which I posted, and which describe him, and us, as small stones in the church while Jesus is the one cornerstone.
It also bears out the truth of all the Scriptures I listed, which specify that Jesus/God is the only Rock and foundation. Scripture does not contradict itself.
