Some people say, “Oh, I don’t have to worry about how I behave as a Christian, because that’s ‘works’. And salvation isn’t by works, so none of that matters.”
Or they say, “Oh, baptism is a work, and salvation isn’t by works, therefore baptism isn’t needed for salvation.” (Notice they don’t say that about believing, despite the fact that Jesus says believing is a work.)
If we want to be followers/disciples of the Lord, we want to understand what He teaches us through the Scriptures, don’t we?
Some people don’t seem very interested in finding out about those works which bring about forgiveness of sins, or those works which make faith fruitful, etc. They bend the Word to make it fit whatever they want or don’t want to do. Is that being a disciple?
A disciple submits to his Master, not the other way around, right?
There are no works that do either of those two things.
Works cannot bring about forgiveness or else it is not grace but wages due. And without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins so works don't cut it.
Works don't make faith fruitful. Faith is fruitful or not. If it is, works result.
Some people say, Oh, I dont have to worry about how I behave as a Christian, because thats works. And salvation isnt by works, so none of that matters.Well for goodness sake, don't let those people just dangle out there!Or they say, Oh, baptism is a work, and salvation isnt by works, therefore baptism isnt needed for salvation. (Notice they dont say that about believing, despite the fact that Jesus says believing is a work.)
They are obviously not Christians so give them the Gospel Message so they can be born again and saved.
Don't give them the heavy stuff, you know, all the traditions. Just the Gospel Message.
They won't understand the rest of the Bible until they become followers of Jesus Christ.
Except for the areas that are concerned about salvation, the rest of the Bible is like a "letter" to Christians. Can't be understood by the unsaved.
Thanks, report back to let us know if that worked if you wish to.
