Is Sharia law in Texas such a bad thing?
The Dallas Morning News ^ | February 3, 2015 | Rodger Jones

I was so much hoping to get a Q&A lined up with Rep. Jeff Leach of Plano on the subject of Sharia Law in Texas. He’s got a bill that would prohibit family court rulings based on foreign legal codes if that violated our own constitutional protections.

These kinds of bills and state constitutional amendments have popped in several states and have been adopted in a bunch. They’re widely accepted as trying to keep the Islamic legal code at bay.

A story in the Houston Chronicle mentioned Leach’s bill in its coverage of the anti-Muslim furor at the Capitol last week. Excerpt, referencing Mustafaa Carroll, the executive director of the Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations commenting on Leach’s bill:

“We feel it’s a red herring and it’s just meant to mar the community,” Carroll said of House Bill 562 by Rep. Jeff Leach, R- Plano.

Leach, however, welcomed the group to the Capitol on Thursday when tweeted, “All Texans are welcome at YOUR Capitol – and all Texans are always welcome in my office. Come one. Come all!”(continued)

Is Sharia law in Texas such a bad thing?

Of course not.

A little at a time. Eventually, it will be public stoning for kids watching a soccer game or a young girl getting raped.

A little at a time. Mandatory burkas for all women and revocation of their driving privileges without a male present.

A little at a time. All the way back to the 7th Century.

“He’s got a bill that would prohibit family court rulings based on foreign legal codes if that violated our own constitutional protections.”

One would think a bill such as this isn’t needed.

A law to say we can not violate the law.

Ya’ll realise, of course, that there are certain laws under Sharia that require no courts and recognize the authority of the citizenry to carry out judgement and punishment. All you need is other male witnesses and you can stone a muslim to death for all kinds of crimes.

" if that violated our own constitutional protections. . It will pass and it will be interesting to see how Sharia law stacks up against our constitutional protections. Go, Texas, lead the way!

Shariah would be a good thing for Hollywood and San Francisco, not for Texas.

The Dallas Morning News seems to have forgotten the taxi driver who exacted sharia law on his two daughters a few years ago.

Paper Blasted for ‘Texan of the Year’ { DALLAS MORNING NEWS }
AP via SFGate ^ | 1/4/8 | ANABELLE GARAY, Associated Press Writer

DALLAS, (AP) — When editorial writers at The Dallas Morning News chose the illegal immigrant as the newspaper’s Texan of the Year, they expected some criticism. But not this: 800 blog postings and more than 150 letters to the editor blasting the decision.

...”What an asinine article!!!” exclaimed one reader....

Editorial writer Rodger Jones said he was “surprised at the nastiness” of the backlash, some of which came from readers who had only seen the editorial’s headline...

“All of those readers, it seems to me, who objected, conceded that it is a huge story,” Jones said. “They just don’t like the label applied. They construed that as some kind of honor that we bestow.”

"And how does that affect YOUR marriage???" is the pat liberal answer.

The Ferguson Rioting..Looting Firebombing “protestor” was named TIMES man of the year....so it figures that a DREAMER would make the cut in some locale overrun by them

It seems like idiocy looms around every corner these days. The Jordanian pilot burned alive in an act taken from Torquemada, is exactly what Sharia will look like.

You can’t fix stupid.

Even muslim immigrants believe this is their country. Don't you get that.

And this Rodger Jones character seems more like an islamist facilitator to me.

The fact that the guy murdered his 2 teenage daughters for wanting to date non muslims and has been hidden and protected by the muslim communities since, means nothing?

You do this by successfully impeaching any politician and judge who even thinks about using Sharia Law. The grounds for filing impeachment is the blatant violation of their oath of office. If they do it once in public how many times have they done it in private.

Oh, by the way, if their public or private acts are in violation of Sharia law have the malefactors explain why they should suffer the full weight of punishment under Sharia.

IMHO there would be no supporters for Sharia law in that case! Q e d.

What part of yes, it’s a bad thing isn’t clear.
In fact, it’s actually worse than bad.
