Today's Word with Joel Osteen - January 1, 2014 [Devotional]
Email ^ | 1/1/15 | Joel Osteen

Posted on 01/01/2015 2:07:17 PM PST by Vision

Just do it!

Today's Scripture

“Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.” (I Chronicles 28:20, ESV)

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Fear not. That is the message David had for his son, Solomon. For many years, David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God told Him that specific job belonged to his son, Solomon. Solomon was young and inexperienced, and even though he knew he had a mandate from God, he was intimidated by the prospect of building a great house of worship, one that would be a dwelling place for the Most High. You can probably understand his apprehension.

But his father David had some good advice for him. He told his son, “Forget your fear. God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than the temple you are going to build. He is bigger than any adversity that you might face. So just get busy and do your part and God will do the rest.”

Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions. Whatever your individual needs may be, notice the words of David, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.”

A Prayer for Today

God, I’m excited to see what You have planned for me this year. Whatever I face, I will not be intimidated. I will begin this year by seeing myself as You do — happy, healthy, and prosperous. Thank you for the gift of another year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There are a lot of ‘gullible’ sheep right here whom are easily fooled by the osteen kid’s fraud and false teaching. How do they get that way? How is it that they are so taken in by this Baker/Swaggerrt clone? Pretty sad really to think about it. Ask them about osteen’s comments about obama: “doing a good job”(!!!!!???) .....crickets. Nothing. Ask ‘em about osteen calling the muslim Barry: “A Christian” (!!!!??)......crickets. Nothing. Their silence on that sort of obama loving is quite telling isn’t it? This charlatan osteen is brilliant regarding separating his simple minded snowed ‘believers’ from their hard earned money, I’ll give him that. His ability to convince the not to bright to keep sending in money to keep he and his wife in their opulent lifestyle is also well done. He is good at it. VERY good at it. Of course it is not so hard for a major league pitcher to throw his fastball by 10 year old player is it? So maybe he isn’t so good....just that the targets of his for selfish money grubbing pleas are so weak and easily fooled.

I understand your point. But, in my point of view, in your post, you could replace Osteen with The Pope or Catholic Church.

Posting a devotional from Mr. Osteen is not the end of the world. Nor is posting the Catholic Caucus or the various other Catholic Threads that are posted.

But is it really worth getting all worked up about? Calling people names, running people off, etc...

>>I dare those that are attacking Mr. Osteen to try that on the pope.<<

ROFLOL!!! Haven't been to the religion forum much? Even Catholics are attacking the present pope.

Osteen doesn’t preach grace. He preaches a prosperity gospel using scripture in a corrupted manner.

Are the Catholic Caucus Threads open for Discussion?

No!

Only if you’re an approved Catholic.

After being told *Once a Catholic, always a Catholic* and that being baptized as a Catholic leaves an indelible mark on your soul, and that you can come back any time, if they don’t like you or want you, they’ll have you booted.

Trust me on that one....

The Boss had his say a couple times on this thread.

It’s his forum and if he doesn’t want the Osteen threads protected because they give the appearance of endorsing Osteen, it’s his call.

That is what I thought. And I am fine with that. However, I do see Threads that are posted that relate to the pope concerning news items where it is open season on what the pope has says. It should be the same way with Mr. Osteen. Any one can post his words of what he has said about Mr. Obama as a news item, and everyone can take their best shot.

The Catholic Threads do not upset me and people should not let the Osteen Threads upset them to the point where a poster no longer feels welcome.

Also, metmom...I think I remember that quote....LOL!

That is fine, I do not have a problem with that.

As I said earlier, those that “piled on”....won.

>>Are the Catholic Caucus Threads open for Discussion?<<

In caucus threads those of a particular religion can discuss beliefs of that religion but they cannot compare them to other beliefs. This thread was not designated a caucus thread. It was labelled "devotional". Devotional to who? It wasn't to the God of scripture. If they want to designate the beliefs of Osteen to another religion that he started they are probably welcome to that.

Yep. As I said, Nothing. Crickets......Go ahead and explain the fraud kid osteen’s comments that: “obama is doing a good job” or that the Kenyan muslim obama is: “A Christian”. Go ahead defend those insane comments. Hmmmm...but maybe since none of the kid osteen’s charlatan sheep care to, or can, they approve of them? Interesting. Or how about his queer support? Care to defend that!? The false teacher osteen continues the scam act perfected by the Baker/Swaggerrt types....and the simple minded continue to be snowed.

Let me be clear. I have no need to defend Mr. Osteen. Of course I do not agree with his statements concerning Mr. Obama.

But if his devotionals can help someone on their walk with Jesus, or can lead them to Jesus, which in turn may lead them to open the Bible and read it for themselves, then I have no issue with that.

I know Freepers are smart people and can figure out where they want to send their money.

Osteen doesn’t preach grace. He preaches a prosperity gospel using scripture in a corrupted manner.

Was that in today's devotional? Yesterday's? In which of these devotionals does he do that? You can't say because his devotionals don't contain what you falsely accuse him of.

Besides, that misses the point of the issue here. Regardless of personal preference, good-faith devotionals are welcomed on FR and this in one of them. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it, just move on.

People like you (members of the Joel Osteen Basher Club) are not welcome on the Joel Osteen Devotional thread. The Devotional is not for debate. It is for encouragement for like-minded Christians.

You need to go somewhere else with your attacks or “Biblical critiques” which are paltry at best and really amount to personal preference that you pretend is doctrine.

Of course you have “no need”, (nice spin attempt), to defend those insane comments! You can’t! No one can! You think those idiotic comments he made are as frivolous as say someone just casually commenting on the various differences in the day’s weather? They are not! They are/were powerful thoughts on how he feels, how he thinks. Powerful thoughts and beliefs on this muslim Obama that is bent on destroying our Country. They can’t be defended by you or anyone else. All we get, (if we get anything), is Klintonin spin, delay, deflect, deny etc. etc. regarding them. He is fraud and a false teacher that is so good at his ‘job’ that the easily fooled sheeple of his continue to send him their hard earned money at great rates each month. His little scam ‘operation’ is running at full throttle, an operation’s pace that Tammy Faye and Jimmy and Swaggerrt would be proud to call their own.

How do they get that way?

"They" get that way because at some point church going America decided to cede their responsibility to STUDY! to someone else. Not unlike the catholic church.

I can remember a time when the catholic church did not want its members having copies of the Bible. Their hierarchy thought Biblical interpretation was too important to be left up to "laymen."

When people stop studying and learning on their own, what the Bible teaches, then they are ripe for Olsteens, and Bakkers, and Swaggarts.

I agree with every word you wrote.

My point all along has been that Mr. Osteen should be afforded the same protection as the Catholic Church is given on FR.

I realize that is no longer going to be the case on FR, and I can respect that decision.
