There is no set list of ex cathedra teachings, but that’s because there are only two, and both are about Mary: her Immaculate Conception (declared by Pope Pius IX in 1854 and grandfathered in after the First Vatican Council’s declaration of papal infallibility in 1870) and her bodily Assumption into heaven (declared by Pope Pius XII in 1950). - See more at: http://www.uscatholic.org/church/2011/05/there-list-infallible-teachings#sthash.SrGhDkKd.dpuf

You asked how important was the Assumption of Mary. I replied it was the third time the pope had spoken ex-cathedra.

Sure sounds pretty important for the pope to do this. Interesting that the ex-cathedra statements primarily deal with Mary.

Creating new rights, new doctrine, ex-cathedra statements work just like 0bama's EOs.

“You asked how important was the Assumption of Mary.”

Actually, you wrote: “The assumption of Mary is a major dogma of the Catholic Church...”

And I asked: “It is? According to what scale?”

I never asked how important the Assumption of Mary was. I asked about “The assumption of Mary” being a “major dogma of the Catholic Church.” The Assumption is an event. The dogma of the Assumption is a dogma about the event. They’re not one in the same. Even you must realize that the Bible and the doctrine of the Bible Alone are actually two different things, right?

It’s like trying to nail jello to a wall, isn’t it?
