...and have made posts that show the Church and Catholics in general, in a negative and inaccurate light.

Negative? True

Inaccurate? Don't just ACCUSE; show the EVIDENCE.

...doing a favour for her at a wedding,...

What?

Is THIS an example of your chosen religions TEACHING??

Clara used to say...

Where's the beef?

I say, "Where's the FAVOR?"

John 2:1-12 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there.

And Jesus also was invited, and his disciples, to the marriage.

And the wine failing, the mother of Jesus saith to him: They have no wine.

And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is that to me and to thee? my hour is not yet come.

His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.

Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three measures apiece.

Jesus saith to them: Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

And Jesus saith to them: Draw out now, and carry to the chief steward of the feast. And they carried it.

And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters knew who had drawn the water; the chief steward calleth the bridegroom,

10 And saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine, and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee; and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this he went down to Capharnaum, he and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they remained there not many days.

You don’t have to do that in order to show what you believe. Profess your faith: let us know about where your faith came from...

I'll not waste my time.

Showing the non-biblical teachings of Rome is a big enough job.

Why don't YOU, justify THEM?

1. The Church does not insist that Joseph had other children.

Perhaps not; but it DOES 'insist' that he NEVER consummated his marriage to the Roman Mary.

2. That second remark was in poor taste and uncalled for.

Perhaps; but the GOD of the bible chose to place Song of Songs in the book.

HE also placed Ezekiel 23:20 in it.

Show some tact, please.

TACT will not break through the rigid teaching that Rome has produced.

Either a 2*4 or a talking ass is needed.

Not wanting to use the first; I'll be content to emulate the second.

Nor are you a courteous participant in this discussion.

Have I been discourteous to you because I talk so bluntly?

Have call you names?

Or have I merely gored your ox?

Excuse me, but would you please clarify what you mean by that? Thank you!

Glad to!

Clearly NOT addressing my comment, and attempoting to steer the topic in a different direction: thus; moving the goalposts.

Moving the goalposts, similar to "shifting sands" and also known as raising the bar, is an informal logically fallacious argument in which evidence presented in response to a specific claim is dismissed and some other (often greater) evidence is demanded.

“I’ll not waste my time.”

It’s interesting then, that you would participate in this forum...

“Showing the non-biblical teachings of Rome is a big enough job.”

Actually, it isn’t your job.

“Why don’t YOU, justify THEM?

Simply because I don’t need to do so, Elsie, to you, nor anyone else. This is what I believe. This is my Faith. You believe as you choose. Pax et bonum!

1. The Church does not insist that Joseph had other children.

I agree Joseph didn't bring the brothers and sisters of Christ into the marriage....but the question then begs to be asked....where did they come from if not from Joseph and Mary?

I’ve heard this answered on EWTN. The term “brethren” meant an extended family: cousins, uncles, etc. in Jesus’ earthly time and place. In some countries this is still practiced.

They're not looking at the Greek or the context. Those clear it up. There is a specific word in Greek for cousin but it is only used once and not in relationship to the family of Christ.

The RCC has based this false teaching on Jesus's stepbrothers/sisters on the apocrypha which suggests Joseph brought these siblings in from another marriage.

It's a narrative they've invested so much in there isn't any way they can back off at this point. It would kill any credibility and probably destroy the roman catholic church.

From www.catholic.com

Full Question My mother told me years ago that shortly before St. Joseph was betrothed to Mary, he had been married to a woman named Melcha who bore him a lot of children. Is this true, and where does this story come from?

Answer

The story about St. Joseph being married to a woman named Melcha with whom he had six children is taken from apocryphal writings, which have no authority. From the Catholic Encyclopedia’s entry on St. Joseph.

Add yet you are trying to get ME to justify something.

Strange set of rules you have.
