Jesus was there in the beginning...
They don’t realize the Bible is the living Word.

I sincerely wish that a few more of the RC posters on FR's religion forum could appreciate the depth and breadth and height of how very much some of the Christians they criticize who post here really, really do believe this is true and have had it confirmed by the Holy Spirit time and time again.

Heinlein was one of the first to speak out against the “settled science” of academia, way back in the 1940s.
From the short story “Lifeline:”
“There are but two ways of forming an opinion in science. One is the scientific method, the other, the scholastic. One can judge from experiment, or one can blindly accept authority. To the scientific mind, experimental proof is all-important, and theory is merely a convenience in description, to be junked when it no longer fits. To the academic mind, authority is everything, and facts are to be junked when they do not fit theory laid down by authority”
In the “Afterward” of the short story “Inside Tourist,” Heinlein bragged that he “practically kidnapped” Isaac Asimov from Columbia University, where he was a PhD candidate, resulting in the A-bomb being finished a year sooner than it would have been. (IOW Isaac saved the free world)

Still a dirty old man with an incestuous heart at any age.

Nonsense. Buy a Bible and read it carefully. I own a Bible. But I'm perfectly willing to admit I'm wrong if you can point me toward the relevant passages and interpretations. So I say in all sincerity and respect, please make your case and I will read it with an open mind and heart. Thanks!

Cannot count the times I’ve blown my punchline on FR.

I think you are confusing the aftermath of the flood and the aftermath of the destruction of Sodom.
Noah's three sons and their wives were among the people saved on the ark.
Lot, the nephew of Abraham, had two daughters who believed that the whole human race, other than themselves and their father, had been destroyed, so they got their father so drunk that he did not realize what was happening, and got themselves pregnant by him. That is the Biblical version of the origin of the Ammonites and Moabites.
I suspect the Ammonites and Moabites had different stories of their origins that did not involve incest.
To: ravenwolf
But you didn’t answer my question.

Who cares what they said.
One is always closer to knowing what is factual and true by just believing what is recorded the the Scriptures which we gentiles call the Holy Bible.
To: editor-surveyor
Bob Heinlein, because of a good much of his sci-fi legacy.
(Not recommending that it be re-read to find out what.)
To: Our man in washington
OK, here it is:
Genesis 1:
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Now exactly what in that declaration suggests a multiple creation?
It is essential to the entire line of the Bible, particularly the “kinsman redeemer” principle, and the “original sin,” that all be descended from Adam.

When I was a young man, I thought the character Lazarus Long was an inspiration, as I did the works of E.R. Eddison and other such writers!
As an older man, I KNOW these all were inspired...but not by Almighty God.
