This is a lovely way to raise money for the poor.
I would love to win the Panama Hat! :-)

Is this not a mere continuation of the man’s infatuation with Judas?

I dunno. He already has stuff and wants to sell it to raise money for the poor.
Now if they would sell off all the art and stuff.

Grand prize is a Fiat. Second prize is two Fiats.

It seems like a nice gesture similar to what a local pastor would do.

Grand prize is a Fiat. Second prize is two Fiats.Lol. The Italians DO make absolutely beautiful cars, silk scarves..so many things. But, their "maquinas" are like their government: that is, nothing works.
To: CrazyIvan
You know what Fiat stands for? Fix it again, Tony!

Right. It's just not enough that the Catholic Church is the largest charitable organization in the world.

Also, only rich people would be able to afford them. And who would be the only ones to look at them? Rich people. I guess poor people don't need beautiful things to look at.

That’s right! Give them beautiful things to look at and they will forget they are hungry!

I knew a man who claimed that he slept with dozens of women, attracted to him because he drove a Fiat sports car. He claimed that he would never have to pay for sex, as long as he owns it. I told him he already was paying for it, only the money was going to his mechanic.

An absolutely ludicrous idea is to break up the Vatican art collection - the greatest collection on earth. You want it all sold to private collectors like Bill Gates and Andrew Lloyd Webber? If we are lucky, once in a while, they’ll allow some museum to display the Giottos for three weeks. Great idea.

Jesus Christ told His Church to store up riches on earth?
Nooooo...

Are y’all running a church or a museum?
Choose wisely of you will compromise your calling.

The Catholic Church is a repository of the greatest art of western civ. I realize there are some people of the Protestant persuasion who feel this is sinful but most people are happy to know that the Church is a great caretaker of these works and make them available to millions of people.
The Church can walk and chew gum at the same time. Their charitable contributions are well-known.

Yes, from a worldly point of view, it may be a good thing to preserve these very, very valuable artifacts and works of art.
But you have yet to respond to the question of whether this is the assigned work of the Church that Jesus Christ founded or is opposition to what He said.

I imagine Jesus would approve. I’m not a theologian, don’t play one on tv, and like to look at beautiful things for God.

Not unless He has changed His Mind and thinks the opposite of what He has said as recorded in the Holy Bible.
What else has He changed His Mind about...?
