To my friends, even Catholic ones, I will state truth. State it clearly, just once, in a kind way. Then I will hold my tongue.
For instance, I have a friend who holds grudges. She was/is a lapsed Catholic. I told her that her inability to forgive was a grave sin and that she really needed to deal with it. I advised her to get back to mass and confession. I told her I would not harp on her about it, but that I would be praying for her. It’s been a few years, but she stopped me recently to say she was going to start back at church. Still haven’t actually spotted her there.
Thanks, I try.
I will pray for her. It just takes once to walk back in. But that can be a really big step.
Nice to see Christian fellowship on FR
It's happening everywhere.....
It's become a cultural and social thing, sadly.
Can't seem to find a real man anymore who will stand up for anything.
Seems like people are no longer recognizing temptation for what it is.
I don't believe that it's *disordered desires*. I think it's just temptation, plain and simple.
But too many people have swallowed the world's lie that if they have the thought or desire, then it must mean that they are ___________; instead of thinking, *Oh, I'm being tempted to do ___________*.
The art of playing the piano when I sing to you.
Indeed. And one of the finest passed away almost two decades ago now: http://www.nytimes.com/1995/02/18/obituaries/david-garvey-72-accompanist-who-was-almost-a-partner-dies.html
**do I speak my mind or do I just say nothing at his family things such as dedications, baby showers for unwed people, weddings where no one goes to church but they get married in a church. **
The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say.
Protestants started no-fault divorces and the institution of marriage has been going down hill ever since.
**That is why Jesus picked twelve Men who were not college educated and most likely not religious to preach the Gospel.
Because he wanted the Gospel preached.**
Great post. Jesus wanted people with faith not “accompaniment.”
Great method! Thanks for the encouragement. That’s what walking with someone is about.
Think of Jesus explaining the Scriptures on the way to Emmaus.
Lord, rest the soul of Thy servant David among the saints.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Jesus wanted people with faith not accompaniment.
Amen.
He seems to tell me to just hold my tongue most of the time.
