Washington D.C., Oct 24, 2014 / 12:08 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Nina Pham, a Dallas nurse who has been battling Ebola after treating a patient in Texas, has now been declared free of the disease, and gave thanks to God and all those who have prayed for her in recent weeks.

“I feel fortunate and blessed to be standing here today,” Pham said in a press conference Oct. 24. “I would first and foremost like to thank God, my family and friends. Throughout this ordeal, I have put my trust in God and my medical team.”

Pham thanked everyone who had been involved in her care, both in Texas and Maryland. She offered special gratitude to Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly for donating plasma, calling it a “selfless act.”

“I believe in the power of prayer because I know so many people all over the world have been praying for me,” she continued. “I join you in prayer now for the recovery of others.”

The 26-year-old nurse, described by friends as a devout Catholic, is believed to have contracted Ebola while caring for a Thomas Eric Duncan, a patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Duncan passed away from Ebola Oct. 8.

Pham was transferred to the National Institutes of Health in Maryland on Oct. 16. Numerous tests have now shown her to be Ebola free, and she will return to Texas to continue regaining strength.

Ebola continues to devastate parts of West Africa. The World Health Organization said that nearly 5,000 deaths had been reported as of Oct. 19, but the true numbers could be as high as 15,000.

Pham’s fellow nurse, Amber Vinson, had also contracted Ebola after caring for Duncan. Vinson is currently being treated. Her family said Oct. 22 that she had tested free of the disease.

I think the Pope should invite her to the Vatican. She is one could make a great impact with her faith, humility and compassion...compassion is evident by meeting with Obama who has a hate on toward the Catholic church.

I think her boyfriend is still under quarantine until early November.

No real Catholic would allow herself to be hugged by Obola the Destroyer of Life (abortion and infanticide). She is sadly self-deceived as are many new age catholics.

What's she going to do? Fight him in front of the press? Like it or not, that jerk is the POTUS (at least in name).

I think she has enough class to endure the moment and move on. Even the Queen of England dealt with the pat on the back.

..”the government is no doubt picking up the tab for this treatment”...

Actually not...the Hospital she was in paid for it all...they mentioned there would be zero cost to her when she first got there as they are a research hospital and have private funding that pays for what they do there. Now there might be some Gov. funds that go into that hospital but the Hospital itself payed for her complete care..and will the follow up.

Her being a nurse was also instrumental as she understood all that was entailed with her car, and the feedback from her as well by those caring for her.

If she really believed in the power of prayer, why have a medical team? She should have refused medical assistance to show all those libtards HIS true glory.

Be charitable & cut the girl some slack. She just survived Ebola & is trying to thank everyone & be polite too. If I had just survived Ebola, I’d probably hug half the Democratic Party, and a few fallen angels, just for good measure.

It’s also painfully obvious that the hug between her & Obama was orchestrated for the cameras. He desperately needs good Ebola related press now. Didn’t someone catch the verbal exchange on tape where he asked her for a hug for the camera??

Of course you know the story of the man stranded on a mountain. After 3 days a helicopter approached. The man prayed for guidance from God but made no effort to signal. This was repeated two more times ( why , I don’t know, things come in 3’s ) after the third time many days past and the man perished there on the mountain.

When the man reported to Peter, Peter looked at him very quizzically. God will see you right away.

So he goes into the cloud throne room and there he sits in all his glory.
God asks, have you anything to say my son?
The man began crying and said “ God in my darkest hour you abandoned me. I prayed for guidance and you never appeared to me, why?

And God said “ dude ,that was like 2 weeks ago and I sent you 3 helicopters”.

You may want to listen to the interview of the woman who escorted the fallen Canadian Soldier into heaven yesterday. The picture of the dogs waiting for him to return broke my heart. ( As my Germans sit next to me as I type this) When I clicked on the link and listened to what had transpired I could not hold back my tears. Just thinking about it now has me welling up again. The woman was God sent as sure as I draw breath.

Fact is there are angels and demons among us. This earth is the devil’s turf. He is a second class citizen and attacks through the 7 deadly sins.
There are people who learn from mistakes and go and sin no more. They are Gods helicopters and we need them always.

God Will Save Me

A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.

A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”

The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”

As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”

The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”

The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.

A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”

Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.

When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”

And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

I see it differently. She was in a unique position to witness the love and power of GOD to Obama (who certainly needs it). I believe in my heart that she rose to the calling and did so.

Will Obama ignore such a powerful witness? Maybe. But maybe not!

lol — the Jews also have a saying that I appreciate:

Sure sure....I guess I also believe in the power of a no-holds barred complete, intensive million dollar plus treatment stay at a top class hospital, too.

Thanks for feedback, I understood it was CDC that said that, and they are actually a government agency. Glad to see the hospital is paying, since the research will benefit them in the long run.

I believe it was her dad that said her being a nurse was “a calling” - not just a job.

THAT is for SURE!
