Reverend Billy Graham, arguably the most well-known and respected evangelical preacher of the last 50 years, said in a recently published commentary that America was “founded by men who believed in prayer” and that prayer can turn “the tide of history,” adding that while “America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah” and deserves “the judgment of God,” this judgment can be lessened through prayer.
“Even though America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah ever were, and as deserving of the judgment of God, God would spare us if we were earnestly praying, with hearts that had been cleansed and washed by the blood of Christ,” said Rev. Graham in his commentary for Decision magazine, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association...
Amen, brother.
...and the end results will be similar, it’s just a matter of when....
I thought it was Graham who years ago said, “If God doesn’t pass judgement on this country, he owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.”
We are being spared only for the sake of the righteous and only for now.
Billy is right.
I love my country (USA), but I love God more!
Can’t wait to hear what the liberals say about this.
No kidding. America has become a abject sewer of socialism and moral depravity. We’ve probably descended well beyond Sodom and Gomorrah at this point.
The final nail for me has been this homo-marriage depravity. Impossible for me to now feel any sense of allegiance or patriotism towards this country anymore. The America I was willing to die for no longer exists. And I’m not going to lift a finger for a country so depraved that it equates two perverted homos as a husband-and-wife.

America is even MORE wicked than those in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Those in S and G did not even have the Law nor the Prophets.
We however have the Law, the Prophets and Christian teachings and we still legalize the very acts performed in the two biblical cities, that were condemned by God.

I have to say the fact that God hasn’t wiped us out shakes my faith. Then I tell myself maybe what’s happening right now IS God wiping us out.
People who vote for Obama think Billy Graham is an old imbecile. Sadly, so do lots of republicans.
I think its an exaggeration, actually. From the story, Lot asks God to spare the cities if there’s but one good man in them.
The US has some good people in it. It is no surprise that the folks in charge share a lot of common traits with the guy in charge of the world (Satan).
Nobody deserves Heaven. Not one person. We are saved by Christ.
As such, Chris is going to come back in His own time. In the meantime, we pray like it is up to Him, and work like it is up to us.
The law never changed, but Israel was always the one that was judged corporately. When Christ died for us, each of us now had our own personal salvation.
Like Israel in throughout history, when Israel stuck to God, God stuck to her. I believe it is going to be true for the only OTHER nation to invoke God in her founding documents - to the extent we stray from God, we will stray from peace and prosperity.
