The info at the few links is tough enough to digest.

Yet other things I mentioned -- not all at this point, in my own opinion required links to establish it as bearing upon the matter.

To then apply all that to discussion and disagreements here, rationally weighing one side against another -- is even harder.

The intro to the comment to which I was responding to mentioned other comments and allegedly valid points, then after framing a set of 4 sets of points (which all but self-destructed upon examination) and that comment including ending notes broadcasting "discussion is over" (but while posturing, using other words seemingly in order to get away with THAT too) followed then by yet another comment attributing motives -- all that kind of thing ticks me off -- because it DOES serve to obscure.

Thank you for your patience.

Yes, I know it's made up...but I don't think they see that....but then they don't want to.

...it's like everything that's catholic is all about climbing one set of stairs to another, and then another flight , (and they're moving!)....only to find the end isn't the one they've 'worked' so long and hard to get to.

>>It is talking about "forgiven sins" vs. "unforgiven sins", and which sins can be forgiven.<<

Not unforgiven sins. It's unforgiven sin. (Singular)

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

A sin. Singular

What is that sin?

Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Blasphemy is slander and libel directed at the Holy Spirit.

If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal. 1 John 5:16- 17

We've all read it, many times...You tagged it so show us with scripture what the mortal sins and non mortal sins are...

That's the incredibly sad part. I pray that those reading these threads find the true freedom that is in Christ.

...”That’s the incredibly sad part. I pray that those reading these threads find the true freedom that is in Christ”...

Well HE does want that for all men...but they have to want His truth, not their own. Which is why I truly believe only God can remove their blindness...it’s just so thick!.. Layers and layers...just like the stairs they climb...one flight after another.

The distinction between mortal and venial sins is evident from Scripture, part of the Church's Tradition, and corroborated by experience.

That's a disqualifier if ever I saw one...

...”Any mortal sin can ‘lead to death’ if forgiveness is not sought and received”....

Any command by God that is not obeyed ‘perfectly ‘ would be defined as sin. ...“ALL” unrighteousness is sin” ....(I Jn. 5:17)...................Rom 3:10 “There is none righteous, no, not one.”

And ALL sin leads to death for “the wages of sin IS death”.

As for forgiveness..

God warmly gives His invitation........”Come now, let us ‘reason together’,” says the LORD.’’’’ “Though your sins are like scarlet, ‘’’they shall be as white as snow;’’’’ though they are red as crimson, ....they shall be like wool...Isaih 1:18

They haven’t been “arguing,” in the correct sense of the word. The only argument they have is “it ain’t in da Biibull,” which is also true of things like the weather on the day of Jesus’ baptism. Since it’s not in the Bible, I assume there was no weather on that day. It was neither hot nor cold nor medium, it was neither sunny nor cloudy, windy nor not windy...there just wasn’t any weather that day, because it isn’t mentioned in the Bible.

Sola Scriptura simply means that all truth necessary for our salvation and spiritual life is taught either explicitly or implicitly in Scripture; that Scripture is the supreme authority in matters of faith and practice. It is NOT a claim that all truth of every kind is found in Scripture, nor is it a claim that all traditions are necessarily invalid per se. It IS a claim that traditions are valid only when they are based on Scripture and are in full agreement with it. Traditions that contradict the Bible are not of God and are not binding on the Christian conscience.

No proponent of the Biblical doctrine of Sola Scriptura here has stated anything otherwise, and your use of the absence of a meteorological report on the day of Jesus' baptism to insinuate that the arguments here for Sola Scriptura amount to and entail the notion that all truth of every kind is found only in the Bible is a gross misrepresentation of that doctrine and the comments on this thread.

Cordially,

The Bible clearly say that God will forgive our sins if we confess them

Bible also sas we can not sin if we are a child of God...Do you believe that as well???
