A housewife allegedly rewrote the Harry Potter series to remove all instances of witchcraft and spellcasting, and replaced them with prayer and miracles.
The story was posted on FanFiction.net before it went viral a few days ago.
Part of it reads: Hagrid beamed widely. He had been praying so hard to save a soul today; and he was so happy to have saved the soul of such a sweet, earnest little one. The poor boy, being raised by two parents who were not Christian; and who both went to work and left him with a babysitter all day long. It was a good thing Hagrid had got here in time. Five years down the road, Harry might have been a fornicating, drug-addicted Evolutionist!
Heres another excerpt: With the simple faith so often seen in little ones, Harry got down on his knees; and lifted his hands skyward; and shouted prayerfully, Dear Lord, please open these doors; and allow me to enter my new home!

Tooooo much Soul
So she just put a new title on it, since there is no witchcraft or devil worship in the books.
The quip against birthdays leads me to suspect that she's a Jehovah's Witness.
It’s not a rewrite, it’s a whole different story with the same character names on different characters.
yep, I have no idea what this kook is talking about.
I guessing she’ll go after the wizard of oz next!
lol
(it’s kook’s like this that give conservative christian a bad name)
So, Hagrid saved souls, did he?
Thank you! Is this kook going after every novel in the fantasy genre, or is she just jealous of Rowling’s success?
It’s fan fiction. Good for this woman for taking the time and writing her own novel.
Codswallop.
Fanfiction that just changes an aspect of the story really doesn’t do it for me.
Now what would have happened if HP was raised in a loving...albeit strange...family where he was a scientific prodigy?
The magical world invaded by a rationalist little boy.
That was a hoot!!!

I became a Harry Potter fan 2 1/2 years ago. I wish I’d realized LONG ago that it didn’t promote real witchcraft. The wizards in it are a different race, where their powers are normal. The years of fun I missed!
I think it has got to be a joke. Satire made to make Christians look like dithering fools.
It always perplexed me when parents would express objection to the magic of Harry Potter, yet turn right around and have no problem whatsoever with the magic and witchcraft of The Chronicles of Narnia.
I object to both of them.
This idea is even worse than the Left Behind movies.
The books were wonderful,
the radio shows were very well done,
and the movies ended up being corny cheeseballs.
Pretty sure this is a trolling attempt. It’s just a little too clever. A little too “oh, Christians are such stupid unscientific morons, tee-hee” to the tone. It could be a rather... overenthusiastic and misguided fanfic writer (which is probably a good description of most of them (full disclosure: I wrote Harry Potter fanfic as a teen))
