Most years, the blood of Saint Januarius (died ca. 305) liquefies on his feast day. This is a sign of the power and the love of God.

Why wouldn’t it be true?

I don’t know. I was thinking about how God’s miracles heal us in more than one way. Like in the Bible where Jesus healed a bunch of lepers but only one came back to say thank you. He healed their bodies, but they failed to avail themselves of His mercy on any other level. So, I think it would be cool to know the full effect over the centuries of having many faithful people experience a recurring miracle. Is it just a matter of an interesting physical phenomenon, or is the Living God acting in the lives of Napolitanos (sp?) in a way that is noticeable?

Also, the Devil does tricks, sometimes. His moves would mimic God’s miracles, I suppose, but would not have a fruitful outcome in terms of faith.

Just musing. I like miracles.

I take it you’re unwilling to stand by your prior allegation of how it might liquefy?

Well, I don’t think anybody’s been scientifically canvassing the city, asking Neapolitans (?), “How much holier are you because of the recurring miracle of the blood of San Gennaro?”

I love the Catholic faith; there’s ALWAYS a reason to rejoice! The daily Mass alone [even without dried blood turning to liquid] is a profound miracle; I’m always in awe. Thanks for posting; what a great crowd!

So why was his blood kept in the first place?

I have a bid on Ebay for a piece of the True Cross. Prester John is finally parting with it and has it up for auction.

I never made such an allegation. I said, specifically “dried fluid”, as I have no idea exactly what kind of fluid is in that reliquary.

...”This is a sign of the power and the love of God”....

Not by any means....

Jesus says...”A wicked and adulterous generation ‘looks for a sign’,... but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” ....Jesus then left them and went away......Matt 16:4

Jesus wasted no time in useless discussions with perverse opponents who ‘will’ not see the truth....Of his death and resurrection, which Jonah was a type, they knew and understood nothing.

Americans are suspicious of folks who claim to be “the smartest dudes in the room,...directly and indirectly.
See where you might belong because it’s not about ones education , it’s about the intellectual ‘credibility’ of the other guy.

As follows:

Intellectual Credibility Factor #1:
Some people arrive in life front-loaded with raw intelligence.

They have a high IQ, a bloated cerebral cortex, feisty synapses, or whatever it is in the brain pan that allows a small percentage of the population to excel at thinking about complex stuff in ways that leave the rest of us gasping in awe.

Intellectual Credibility Factor #2:
Some people gorge on education.

They are walking libraries and resource centers on facts and figures and historical implications.

Intellectual Credibility Factor #3:
Some people earn street-level savvy from serious time in the trenches.

No theory for these dudes. They know what they know, because they learned it from doing it.

Intelligence. Education. Street savvy.

Which do you think wins out in the game of life?

Intelligence is a great tool,... like fuel for your car. But it is not the car.

“Which do you think wins out in the game of life?”

Depends. Here at FR, a news and issues oriented posting site, in the religion forum when Catholic issues come up, it’s education. The amount of sheer ignorance held by the non-Catholics and anti-Catholics is astounding. It is not an accident that the usual mouth breather crowd here simply lack all three: intelligence, education, street savvy.

There is a relic of dry blood which, as the Cardinal Archbishop moves the reliquary, liqufies and visibly flows again. When it doesn’t… bad things happen, such as earthquakes.

Hahahahahaaaa! SMore smoke and mirrors from Satan to confuse the gullible!!

There's a new thread up on FR...The Number Of Volcanic Eruptions Is Increasing And That Could Lead To An Extremely Cold Winter

Such a nice Christian Attitude... NOT! There is nothing Christlike within that post.

The sheer ignorance and drone obedience to a manmade institution displayed in this and many posts is most astounding... and making such derogatory remarks against Christians does nothing to advance any position.

God will not be mocked.

Anyone posting such drivel should get a life and give up trying to confuse with ignorant repetitious ad hominems! The only accident is that some are born into Roman Catholicism and get so indoctrinated that they cannot understand the reality of God's economy!

Satan is enjoying the fruits of his labor in the vineyard of Roman Cultism...

...”in the religion forum when Catholic issues come up, it’s education”....

I suspect you mean that one must be “educated” in the catholic faith to discern and understand catholicism...is that right?

However, since catholics themselves admittedly state that there are varied beliefs within the different branches of catholcism....which even among themselves they do not comprehend nor understand.

.... How then can you say it’s a matter of education in determining what the Bible states when in fact it’s an open book for any to glean from regardless of their education......and when you have a grasp of His word you are then able to understand “truth” when you see it..equally as much “falsehood” when you see it.

Since God’s Spirit inspired the writers of Scripture, that same Spirit can be guaranteed not to lead us to contradict the plain direction of Scripture.... It is the primary source for divine guidance in our life.

“The Lord is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him” (Hab 2:20).
