Well my goodness, it would seem that yet another pastor in yet another Christian church has found his 15 minutes of fame on the interwebs by intentionally whipping up theologically inaccurate, fear-based, power-hungry homophobia.
Get a load of this little ditty as reported by Raw Story:
"Brainerd Baptist Church Senior Pastor Robby Gallaty devoted his entire hour-long sermon on Sunday to justifying Christian opposition to the sexuality of LGBT people.
"After spending about 20 minutes recounting the perils of homosexuality throughout history, Gallaty asserted that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God because of gay sex..."

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
"Committed abomination." Considering the story of Sodom, and how God hated that there were those practicing sodomy in Israel (called sodomites), what else could that mean?
lol. Jesus had no fear of homosexuals. Why would He? The ones who refused to repent were sent to hell, those who changed their ways found salvation in Him.
We have no reason to believe Jesus was homophobic.
But at the same time, while forgiving our transgressions of God’s law, Jesus did tell us to ... go and sin no more.
(All debate over the Secret Gospel of Mark, aside!)
The entire Judeo-Christian message is replete with moral standards we are expected to at least sincerely try to meet, plus God’s love for us all.
That’s two ingredients. Not just the latter one.
One time only list of phobias z(feared and imagined):

Shazam, Sgt Carter.
They weren’t destroyed because of gay sex, but because of their extreme selfishness. They didn’t care about anyone but themselves and their pleasure - not the poor of their cities and not guests.
>>Oh yeah, and our main man Jesus said nothing, not one thing, nary a syllable about homosexuality.<<
Jesus condemns homosexuality and sexual immorality in Revelation 22:
“How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city! Outside are the homosexuals, those involved with the occult and with drugs, the sexually immoral, murderers, idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.” (Complete Jewish Bible)
Jude 1:5-7
Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[c] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwellingthese he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
All of the above.
I'm curious...Just where does this author think Jesus was when the OT laws against sexual sin were given by God? I'm guessing said genius author never pondered John 1...I used to get mad at these people, now I just pity them and the folks who swallow their bilge without question.
As with many other sins, it all boils down to the question posed by the serpent in The Garden: “Did God really say...?”
Oh, goody. Another liberal whose stopped reading after “In the beginning” is going to tell us what Jesus believed, even when it contradicts everything else in the Bible.
Satan seeks to convince the masses there is no sin. Nothing new here.
Being Jewish, I don’t put much stock in St. Jude. This explanation http://www.mesora.org/sodom.html is, however, in keeping with Jewish tradition...and, after all, Genesis is a Jewish text.
Why can’t you post how idiotic Time is?
I’d say that having homosexual gang-rape as your Welcome Wagon qualifies for both lack of hospitality and overt licentiousness.
If you want to go Old Testament on homosexuality instead of New, then by all means do so. Those are the writings that the revisionist Christians want to ignore. They’d rather stick with the New Testament, where the strict laws of Judaism aren’t so rigid and sodomy is suddenly OK because Jesus didn’t mention it. Of course, Jesus didn’t mention bestiality either, nor a huge host of other sins. That doesn’t mean they’re suddenly OK.
Being Christian, I would not presume to be able to pick and choose which parts of God’s revealed Word to obey and which to ignore. I like studyng the Old Testament, but it is only half of the truth. I put stock in all of the revealed truth which includes the New Testament and Jude is a part of it.
Well, yes, trying to rape angels was the final nail in the coffin. They developed to that point, however, from materialism. Acceptance of sexual sin is aided by selfishness and materialism.
