How could this possibly not be a caucus topic?

Going to the Latin Mass, I never have to deal with the handshake sideshow. On the rare occasion I have to go to a Novus Ordo in order to attend mass at all, I dread that particular portion the entire time.

If they want to keep it I suggest that they consider moving it towards the beginning of Mass. I really don't like being interrupted while I am concentrating on the Eucharist.
I attended Mass in Las Vegas, at the Cathedral there, and they did just that. It was nice.

I hate that freaking sign of peace and it is one of the reasons I go to Latin Mass

The fake "sign of peace" with strangers is the reason I quit going to Mass.

You shake the hand of the person on either side of you. This often means my family members will not receive the sign of peace from me. No handshaking after Agnus Dei.

I’m an old fashioned type baptist and I HATE the hand shaking with a passion. Seriously, if you want to shake hands and say howdy, get there ten minutes early.

Oh please, we never wanted this stupid thing in the first place (sorry to anyone who likes it).
They want us to be protestants, now I guess they are upset some are too protestant.
Who will this be good for? My guess - the protestants.

Going to Mass is between you and God.If we read the Saints they kinda did what they wanted in certain parts of the Mass.If you feel pressured to give the sign of the peace give a wave to the people in front of you and in back of you and then kneel down.

In a recent Mass, a visiting family sitting closer to the front shook hands with everyone around them during the sign of peace, then the family all passed around and used a small hand sanitizer before going up for Communion.

I find the discrete bowing done in the Orient at the sign of peace much more reverent and less intrusive than the handshaking and backslapping prevalent in US parishes.

Surprised that there's no mention of the way the Maronites do it -- the priest gives the sign to the deacon, who gives it to the altar servers, who give it to the ushers, who give it to the people on the end of the pews, who pass it down, etc. A really beautiful rite which makes it utterly clear that it's not my peace or your peace, but the peace of Christ.
I was at a very reverently done solemn high EF Mass the other night where the assembled clerics & seminarians in choir did this; it's certainly a licit option in the Latin Rite.

The sign of peace is made after the consecration and just prior to the reception of Communion; it had been suggested that it be moved so that it would precede the presentation of the gifts.Interestingly, in Milan (Italy) this is when the sign of peace occurs.
Apparently for some old historical reason, that dioceses has been given special permission (or dispensation) to celebrate the Mass in a slightly different way even though it is still Catholic (of the Latin Rite).
