I’m sorry, I don’t approve. It sounds a bit predatory to me to target young children for programming of belief at a public venue like a swimming pool.

Planned Parenthood, ACORN, Democrat Party, Communist Party, National Education Association, National Teachers Association, HHS, HEW (whatever they called now), and all the rest. You know what? just add anything ‘government’ related to that.

They've banded together in recent weeks to warn parents about the Child Evangelism Fellowship's Good News Club, buying a full-page ad in the local alternative weekly to highlight the group's tactics.

"They pretend to be a mainstream Christian Bible study when in fact they're a very old school fundamentalist sect," said Kaye Schmitt, an organizer with Protect Portland Children, which takes issue with the group's message and the way it's delivering it.

No wonder the headline makes the Christians sound creepy. PPC is in Portland!

Not the way to do it - if anything, it’s a big turn-off.

If their very own parrents deny Christ and the Supreme Court has banned the Bible from the classroom, then it becomes the responsibility of Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Good News Club to Save these children from the oppressive Godlessness of their family and public schools.

It is not only the right of the Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Good News Club under the First Amendment to save these children, but it is their responsibility as Christians.

I hope their Mission catches on across America and even more children are saved.

I don’t care what their message is, you don’t engage children in anything without the parent’s permission. Or at least knowledge.

Maybe they should pass them the tracts from their windowless van painted with 'Free Candy' on the side of it.

Actually, unless they are acting in a very creepy manner (kind of like the one I described) I applaud their efforts. If they are just passing out tracts - go for it. In today's society, children are going to be exposed 24/7 to unfiltered sewage from their schools, and from their televisions. Exposing them to a glimmer of the Truth is a kindness.

I contribute to a CEF ministry consisting of a husband and wife team who have been presenting to kids for 30 years. Someone needs to tell them about Jesus. . .it is evident that parents are falling short. OK. . I know you are going to say. .”you’re judgmental” on my next statement. . .but it is a fact. Too many parents are more worried around Halloween time (satan’s hallowed eve) what costume they’ll send their kids out in begging for candy, money, fruit? . .spending I don’t know how much to adorn their children in the designer outfit of the month, and of course making sure they are equipped with the best iphone money can buy. Many parents also could care less what their children have been exposed to on their phones/computers or friends’. No Jesus there.

Are these same parents concerned about the PreK-Career Common Core/Data Base and beyond the pale sex ed programs in many states. No Jesus there.

I took the CEF Wordless Book on an education mission trip to Kazakhstan twenty years ago. Jesus was there. . . and they learned that He loves them very much.

Could it be that this parent complaining in the article doesn’t have a handle on the salvation message. It is about sin. .purposely stealing from a cookie jar does have consequences and over the years that sin turns into more and eventually prison time. Just ask the incarcerated when they got started in their criminal activity. . .wasn’t after graduation.

I think that the idea of targeting children at pools and playgrounds to be deplorable. It is the same type of thing that we criticized when the PETA freaks targeted the 4H kids at county fairs.

The responsibility for raising a child of this age to know Christ is on the PARENTS. That is the biblical duty. Anyone that attempts to subvert that is violating the scripture. Anyone that proselytizes to my kids without my knowledge of permission is in for a world of unhappiness. That is my job. I don’t trust the US government to do it and I sure is heck don’t trust some random street corner group that claims they are Christian. Christ said let the children come to him. He did not go ambush them when their parents were not around.
Want to preach at some kids? Go become a youth pastor and get hired some place. Come near my kids and you will not like the result. If you don’t work at the church or Sunday School in the church of my choosing you don’t have any business talking religion with my kids. Period.
I believe in parents rights and I think they are fundamental rights given by God. I respect those rights for other people as well. There will be time enough for the Spirit to convert them when they are older. Jesus is sovereign and does not need this type of ‘help’ any more than he needs the old ‘convert or die’ tactics.

"They pretend to be a mainstream Christian Bible study when in fact they're a very old school fundamentalist sect," said Kaye Schmitt, an organizer with Protect Portland Children, which takes issue with the group's message and the way it's delivering it.

The atheists just want a monopoly on molding the children's minds. They're mad about the competition.

CEF says Protect Portland Children is a shadow group run by atheists who seek to dismantle Christian outreach. The group said its methods are above reproach.

That is irrelevant with the God hating atheists are involved.
