Christianity and Islam: A Common Heritage?
Crisis Magazine ^ | 7/1/14 | William Kilpatrick

Posted on 07/01/2014 6:45:13 AM PDT by BlatherNaut

Recently two prominent American bishops joined two leading Shiite Muslim scholars in Iran in issuing a statement on weapons of mass destruction. According to the statement, “Christianity and Islam cherish a common heritage that emphasizes, above all, love and respect for the life dignity, and welfare of all members of the human community.” It went on to say that “Catholicism and Shia Islam hold a common commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect,” and concluded with a commitment to “our mutual intention to engage in sustained dialogue based on our shared values.”

"...Meanwhile, back in the real world, Christians are being butchered by the hundreds and thousands by their “partners in faith.” As Islamic terrorism spreads across the globe, Church leaders might want to reconsider the common-ground-with-Islam policy that has been in place since Vatican II. It’s one thing to affirm the common humanity shared by Christians and Muslims; it’s another thing altogether to assert that they share a common belief system—as in “Living Our Faith Together.”"

Try telling that to the Christians in the Middle East who are fleeing for their lives from ISIS and other Islamofacists.

If those catholics want to take the snake, Islam, to their breast, they should expect a bite. Islam is a cult of death and destruction.

“A common heritage?” My foot!

Muzzies don’t even worship the God of Creation, even while they try to hijack Him for their own ends.

This is “Chrislam”, folks, and the usual suspects on the Islamo-Left are pushing it.

The one and only Almighty GOD is in NO WAY the same as (or even similar to) that wet-dream figment of Mohammed’s perverted imagination nicknamed “Allah” (piss be upon him).

There is no common heritage between a religion and a cult.

This is not the Catholic Faith. It is the Vatican II Faith.

Before getting too smug, let’s recall that historically, Christians did their share of butchering people who didn’t believe as they did. It was America and Americanism that cured them of that particular habit.

It was not part of the Faith; however. The founder of Islam encouraged conversion by the sword.

Two very different things.

If you're referring to the Crusades, you need to read your history. The Crusades were a direct reaction to persecution of Christians my the Muslims of the day. I would hardly refer to that as 'butchering'.

Were you thinking of something else?

Even Christians sin, but Christianity does call for it, or condone it. Islam demands it.

In that Islam is a twisted form of the Catholic heresy we name Arianism, yes, they have a common heritage. Islam is a heretical religious system that derives from Catholic heretics.

After the Arian heresy was mostly resolved, instead of executing the heretics, many of them were exiled to the deserts of Arabia, where, by and by, this stupid camel trader named Mo came across them and learned their demonic doctrines.

If the Church had punished these heretics properly in the first place, Islam may have never happened.

The only heritage we share is the real God is our Father and they chose to worship those that rebelled against Him. After that they have no commonality with us.

I don't have any problem recognizing the fundamental differences between christianity and islam, as well as historical differences. No problem at all.

There is no comparison.
