The GOP just lost its only non-Christian in Congress
The Washington Post ^ | June 11, 2014 | Aaron Blake

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's primary loss means Congress will soon say goodbye to its only Jewish Republican.

And not only that; it also means there will likely be no Republicans in Congress who profess to be anything other than a Christian.

According to data collected by the Pew Forum at the start of the 113th Congress last year, the GOP conference was 69 percent Protestant, 25 percent Catholic, 4 percent Mormon and 1 percent Orthodox Christian.

Cantor (Va.) was the only member of any other faith on the Republican side in either the House or the Senate -- out of 278 members. There are no non-religious Republicans in Congress either.

I propose the we continue to support qualified conservative female and minority candidates (Like Shannon, Zeldin, ect.) when they run and encourage such people *to* run, rather than sticking our head in the sand and pretending that only the message matters and not the messenger, as Mark Levin and several people on this thread seem to believe.

That’s what I was responding to, the attitude of “No Jewish Republicans in Congress but tons of Jewish rats? Well, so what? Who cares? Doesn’t matter!!”

Politics, unfortunately perhaps, is about people as well as ideas. More female faces and non-white faces ect. amongst our elected officials can only help the conservative movement and the Republican party. That’s all.

I was hoping that Adam Hasner would run in Florida, but he decided not to. There are some good Jewish Republicans who could run in the future. State Representative Dan Lederman could run in South Dakota if Kristi Noem decides to run for the Senate. Jay Ramras served in the Alaska state legislature before losing a primary for Lt. Gov. to Mead Treadwell. He could run for the House if Don Young ever decides to retire (and I wish he would). I had hope for David Storobin when he won a special election to the state Senate in Brooklyn, but he lost the 2012 election by a landslide.

By the way, Auh2oRepublican, what is a Ronulan? I’ve never heard of it.

Impy, you hit the nail on the head. We need to know the value of good PR and the more Republican women and minorities we have, the better we’ll do from a PR standpoint. Look at how the left attacked Sarah Palin. They were scared of her. Because she was so high-profile, she was an obvious target. It would be harder for the msm to attack a lower-profile target in most circumstances.

DJ said it best a few years back, we can’t win elections by being the party of white men alone and we can’t implement conservative ideas without winning elections.

Whoops, how could I forget? Ohio state Treasurer Josh Mandel, an Iraq War veteran and grandson of holocause survivors, would be a great addition. His 2012 campaign for the Senate had some errors, but there will be other opportunities and hopefully it was a learning experience for him, like it was for Mike DeWine in 1992 and for George Voinovich in 1988.

A Ronulan is a Paulbot (I know you’re more tolerant of them than I). I saw the term somewhere, hadn’t heard it before, thought it was funny. I don’t know if Auh was already familiar with it or if he picked it up from my usage of it.

Don Young needs to BE retired, I am disappointed he doesn’t have a strong primary challenger, when strongly challenged in 2008 he came within an eyelash of losing. it won’t be easy but jerks like him should be high priority targets.

I agree that Mandel will probably seek higher office again. It’d be nice if Portman decided to retire to spend more time with his gay son.

Hansner/Frankel was a rematch I wanted to see, instead she gets a pass, too bad.

Grucci’s family business, with which he was not involved, poisoned his campaign and the water.

I don’t know what the problem was with his family business but the reason he lost was because he ran those attack ads against Bishop, based on apparently false information, saying that Bishop didn’t do enough for alleged rape victims at the college he ran.

A Ronulan is a member of the L. Ron Paul Cult. I usually use the term “Paulistinian” (or “Paultard,” particularly for Amash, who actualy is of Palestinian descent and I wouldn’t want careless readers to think that I was judging him on his ancestry), but “Ronulan” sounds more like a description of a religious cult and thus I used the term in my joke regarding the religion of those three Paulbots.

Just curious: Did those same Cleveland election precincts which reported ZERO votes for Romney in 2012 also report ZERO votes for Mandel in the Senate race? Also what ere the errors that Mandel's campaign made?

To: glyptol

Glyptol: You are correct. He’s a public servant, not a Rabbi.

However, he is a Cantor (hopefully not in my shual).

(FYI: A cantor in the Jewish religious hierarchy is one who performs Jewish liturgy (i.e. sings prayers and songs, esp. during services).

Remember performer Eddie Cantor? Remember Al Jolson (whose father wanted him to be a cantor, not an actor/singer).

There are two other “Canters” (just a difference in spelling in English) that we should also know about.

One was Henry Canter, a founder of the Communist Party, a Chicagoan who took his family to Soviet Russia in the 1920’s to serve Lenin. His son, David Simon Canter, also a key covert CPUSA labor leader, became the major political powerbroker in Chicago, as well as serving as a KGB asset selling Soviet propaganda along with CPUSA member LeRoy Wolins.

David Canter, along with veteran CPUSA sympathizer Don Rose, ran a pro-communist propaganda paper in Kenwood/Hyde Park in Chicago, and hired one David Axelrod to write for it (Axelrod worked for the Chicago Tribune until lured away by Canter).

Thus Canter and Rose became Axelrod’s political mentor, including working on the election of leftist Harold Washington as mayor of Chicago.

Axelrod became a major advisor to one Barack H. Obama, along with others from the Communist Party USA and its competitor, the Democratic Socialists of America (some CPers became DSAers). Other Obama supporters at the meeting in Weatherman Bill Ayers/Bernadine Dohrn’s house which helped Obama get the Democrat nomination for the State Senate seat of leftist Alice Palmer included:
* Milton Cohen - CPUSA/DSA
* Dr. Quentin Young - CPUSA/DSA, Obama’s personal physician, and the CPUSA’s top proponent of a “single payer insurance program” (aka Obamacare in the future)

Eric Cantor is leaving Congress. I don’t care if no other Jewish politicians get elected to the GOP or not. Religion is not important per se other than those with firm religious convictions are usually more ethical than those who pretend to be religious (i.e. Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, etc).

And the Jews who are Democrats are traitors to their religion, but more importantly, to their country, and if this were a time of declared war, I would want them shot for treason:

Feinstein; Boxer; Schumer; Cohen; Israel (and a few others)

Jail for life: former Rep. Weiner; Sen. Ben Cardin; the rest of the aholes

In Congress, you are either pro-America or you are an enemy of America, i.e. a traitor. Obama’s crew are absolutely traitors and Good Germans, regardless of their religion.

Nov. 4th is time to not only clean the Dems clocks, but also to kick the GOP Rinos in the balls.

Screw Cantor! He had his chance to be a “leader”, not a powerseeking asskisser (I’d say he’d kiss a Boehner to get ahead but that image is disgusting).

I’m Jewish but I’m an America first and foremost! My son, who helped liberate Iraq, is Jewish but firstly, an American.

My father (d) who served in WW2 is Jewish, as was my mother who worked in the Dept. of the Army during the war, but they were AMERICANS above all else.

The only thing a politician who represents America should wear on his coat/shirt/dress is the American flag, not an Obama-is-God button.

The only thing Obama should wear (for now) is a prison jump-suit, along with Holder, Durbin, Reid, Pelosi, Wasserman-Shultz, etc., along with half the mainstream media.

We have been betrayed, not only by powerhungry RINOS, but by almost every Democrat in Congress, the State Dept. and the White House.

Treason is in season and freedom is dying because of it.

Organize, demonstrate, vote! We can take down the Democrat traitors in November and put trustworthy/patriotic Americans back in Congress to stop Obama’s “Red Machine” from totally selling out our country.

I’m pissed, I’m on a roll, and I’m taking names so that when we put people in jail for treason, we’re getting the right ones.

As my injured NYPD police officer friend likes to say, “LANCES UP”!

OK, I get the joke, but let's not lose sight of the fact that Ron Paul himself is, from what I glean, a devout Christian, just to set the record straight.

My post was tongue-in-cheek. Besides, it is Ron Paul’s followers, not Ron Paul himself, whom I referred to as belonging to the Romulan Church ....

Josh Mandel didn’t file his financial disclosure in time and had to pay a fine for it. He also rushed into the Senate race shortly after winning his current office. He attended some fundraising events which turned out to be controversial, had some (relatively minor) ties to unsavory lobbyists, and shoved a cameraman who was tracking him of Sherrod Brown’s behalf. None of this disqualifies him for future office, needless to say, just minor avoidable mistakes that the media played blew out of proportion out of bias. As for the votes, I don’t know how the precincts turned out.
