As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26 But Peter made him get up. Stand up, he said, I am only a man myself.
Acts 10:25-26
“So explain to me why Peter didn’t buy that argument - that it was only “love and respect?””
Peter knew the difference between worship and simple respect. He didn’t assume those around him in a heavily pagan world did.
“Explain to me why the angels in the Bible don’t buy that argument either.”
They did. They didn’t want anyone to confuse them with God Himself in terms of worship. We suffer from no such problem whereas people of the ancient world were more easily led by their own experiences to believe the angels were God Himself.
“As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26 But Peter made him get up. Stand up, he said, I am only a man myself. Acts 10:25-26”
Yep. And? I see no pope acting any differently when someone shows them any honor or respect. They always ask people to “Stand up”. So?
