The Rev. John Jenkins, president of Notre Dame, explained in a recent article in The Observer that he created an Oversight Committee on Diversity and Inclusion to create a welcoming atmosphere on campus that go[es] across all areas of campus for students, faculty, and staff.
He said that the committee seeks to implement concrete changes on campus, but noticeable progress will not occur overnight.
In the article, Fr. Jenkins is quoted lauding the steps already taken towards this goal:
I think that we have made progress. The creation of the GLBTQ group [Prism-ND] is a big step forward, and I hope thats successful But there are other areas of the University where maybe we need to think about, for instance, how to incorporate international students. They bring great gifts, but perhaps we need to make sure that theyre fully included. Sometimes individuals from underrepresented minorities feel that Notre Dame could be more welcoming.
Catholic Education Daily recently reported on the Prism-ND co-sponsoring Coming Out Day, which celebrated GLBTQ lifestyles.
The newly formed committee is supposed to consider diversity of race, ethnicity, nation of origin, socioeconomic class, gender and sexual orientation, according to The Observer. Fr. Jenkins explained the reasons why he believes this committees existence and work will lead to a better Notre Dame, stating:
A more diverse and inclusive campus is a better educational environment I think we learn, students and faculty and everyone on campus learns, not only in formal classes from teachers, but from one another. And insofar as we can have a broader array of perspectives on matters, I think its a better education.
A professor from Gonzaga University recently questioned why so-called diversity seems to mean allowance for every possible viewpoint except faithful Catholicism. He argued that in order for true diversity to exist, the authentic teaching of Catholicism should occur, just as other disciplines are treated fairly.
I would certainly hope that no (authentically) Catholic family would send their son, their daughter, or their money to Notre Shame.
Is the Q for queer .. and if so ... doesn’t it make the preceding list redundant ?
a big step backward for civilization
Just guessing here, but Fr. Jenkins MUST BE QUEER!!!! Just guessing.
How does a student practicing extra-marital celibacy KNOW he’s gay?
Heterosexuals are not welcome at the table, apparently.
This isn’t a tolerance group, it is a special interest PAC for a lifestyle CHOICE that is counter to biblical teachings.
So someone tell me, why are they suing over obamacare?
Seems they are cool with the anything goes mantra.
It appears as though Notre Dame has “evolved” into being obsessed with the sexual deviant “lifestyles”.
So straight white guys are...well...screwed. Again. “Diversity and Inclusion” doesn’t work for white straights.
some say it is “questioning”. But anyone “questioning” or “bi-curious” will be invited to participate and homosexual acts and “come out as a homosexual”.
The “questioning” and “curious” as never counseled NOT to act on those carnal desires and counseling someone who is heterosexual curious is “unnatural”, we are told that there is no such thing as a “former gay”.
Perverts are running the mental health field and need new flesh.
Unless the student id’s themselves as “gay”....how would they prove they were not???
The Q in this alphabet soup stands for “Questioning”.
The idea here is that certain people are questioning of their sexuality, and not sure of what their sex is, or what attractions they feel, etc. They are in the “Q” group.
I must say, that I don’t understand this happening at Notre Dame. How can a Catholic university indulge in any of this? How can they endorse any of this, when Catholic teaching in the area of sex opposes sex outside of traditional male/female marriage??? Catholic teaching also opposes homosexuality. I presume it would also not concur with the “B” or bi-sexual part of the group. Or the “T” transgender group.
Or, has our culture, including religious institutions, fallen prey to being co-opted by homosexual activists???
Oh Barf!
EleminoPee!
Well, who am I to judge? /sarc
so much for Notre Dame....
so sad to see a good college go so bad...
it seems that they are “convenient catholics.” When it works for them, they are CINOs (Catholics In Name Only). When it doesn’t then they just ignore the “catholic” part of their institution’s history.
Sad, sad, sad...
I’m not a practicing Catholic anymore and this still makes me mad. Notre Dame and American University are no longer catholic at all...
