Prayer to St Michael the Archangel
Pope Leo XIII

Posted on 09/29/2013 6:34:45 PM PDT by ebb tide

“O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.

“Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven. That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

“These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be.

“Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord; and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen. V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers. R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered the root of David. V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord. R. As we have hoped in Thee. V. O Lord, hear my prayer. R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

Let us pray. O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as supplicants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious St. Michael the Archangel, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all the other unclean spirits who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls. Amen.”

You can go direct to the Son and the Father to pray as well.

It is an erroneous interpretation of what is actually meant by “communion of the saints.”

And it will not be corrected until the Spirit of the Lord indwells them.

Sorry, guys, looks like my post should have been directed to union and not stripes.

Then that makes two of us, stripes, cause after I read union’s post back to you, I thought you were saying okay to pray to angels.

So I wrote you both and switched my post from stripes to union, and now looks like it applies to you both.

Geez! Pays to read the whole thread before jumping in, huh?

LOL

The Holy Spirit must indwell them, JSDude1, before the actual meaning becomes clear to them.

Prayer towards that end will not go amiss.

“Your ilk”?

Meaning protestant to you, stars and stripes forever.

Another believer earlier today reminded me that this battle has been going on for centuries.....I agreed and it won’t be settled in any Catholic’s mind until the Spirit of God indwells him.

And, just so, there are many protestants who also have not been indwelt with the Spirit of the Lord. It is a condition common to all men regardless of what religion they profess. The spirit of the Lord must move upon them and indwell them.

Till then we must continue to proclaim the truth and pray the Lord will move upon them and enter their spirit, so that they may finally see as truth that which we have told them.

In Revelation there are 7 churches. I lean toward the Calvinists in theology but worship in any church I attend. Don’t have a church that matches my theology but that’s okay.

Because the angels and saints are parts of the Body of Christ.

Angels are part of the body of Christ? So Jesus died to redeem angels too?

Surely you mis-spoke ...

I’ve no idea what that even is.

This is where I am coming from:

Have you experienced the salvation of the Bible, not the salvation of Romanism or the salvation of Protestantism, but the salvation of the Bible?

It’s available, 1 John 5:13 says: ‘These things’, the word of God, ‘have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God’.

You can know with certainty, why? Because Jesus died, paid the penalty, was buried in the grave - the work complete - rose again on the third day, ascended to heaven, and He is alive now, able to save better than any church. He offers salvation as a free gift of grace to all who will receive it by faith and faith alone.

It would make no difference to me if you were catholic or protestant or a purple alien from Mars, I still preach the same gospel to all....have you been born again and filled with the Spirit? Have you experienced biblical salvation?

Here is someone who has and gives a very good testimony as to how the Lord opened his heart and mind and he was biblically saved. I would ask that you listen and then see what you think.

You may think I am bashing catholicism, and while there are many errors in it, the same can be said for many protestant sects as well. I care nothing for your religion and everything for your soul. I stand for the salvation as spelled out in the bible and no other.

God bless you,

Have you found Luther's doctrine of "the Bible alone" in the Bible yet?

Certainly have...It's all over the bible, OT as well as New...

Yet you hold to this non-scriptural doctrine, while condemning Church doctrines which aren't explicitly mentioned in scripture.

So you are saying that Martin Luther made up 'faith alone' so it's alright for you guys to make this up???

Communion of Saints is the Spiritual Union which Unites the Faithful upon Earth, the Souls in Purgatory, and the Angels and Saints in Heaven, in the One (1) Mystical Body, the Church, of which Jesus Christ is the Head, and the Participation of All in the One (1) Supernatural Life.

The body of Christ is the Bride...There are no angels who are part of the Bride of Christ...It's not only non-biblical, it's terrible theology...

How can any passage in the Bible refer to the Bible (in Greek, "Biblia," literally, "Books") as a whole, since the collection of books that comprise the Bible wasn't determined until long after the passages in the Bible were written?

Not again. The egregious extrapolation and arguments from silence that RCs must resort to in order to seek to support prayer to departed saints in Heaven (PTDS) have been well exposed. Yet the weight of Scriptural substantiation is not even the basis for the veracity of RC doctrine, but the premise of Rome authority is, and whereby this tradition of men is taugt as doctrine.

And which specious argumentation is required due to the failure of the Holy Spirit to provide even one prayer to anyone else in Heaven but the Lord, or to instruct us to address prayers to departed saints ore angels.

For despite prayer being a most basic practice, out of about 100 prayers (that of spiritually beseeching help) to Heaven in the Scriptures, and multitudes of references to pray to God of the Holy Spirit provides absolutely zero prayers to anyone else in Heaven but the Lord - except by pagans (Jer. 43) - to whom He Himself cries to (Gal. 4:6) and instructs believers to look to (Heb. 12:2) and pray to. (Mt. 6:9)

And who teaches that in Christ believers have direct access to God in the holy of holies, (Heb. 10:19) and that there is only intercessor btwn God and man, that being the incomparable who ever lives to make intercessor for the saints. (Heb. 7:25)

In addition is the fact that "saints" is used to refer to all believers, and all true believers are with the Lord after death, awaiting the resurrection and the judgment seat of Christ , and loss and gaining of rewards with their crowns.

Not easy, as you must use your human reasoning to objectively examine evidence need to warrant making a fallible human decision to submit to a supposedly infallible magisterium which calls you to forsake objectively examining evidence so as to ascertain the veracity of official RC doctrine, now or in the future.

As C.S. Lewis expressed,

“The real reason why I cannot be in communion with you [Catholics] is not my disagreement with this or that Roman doctrine [but see his quotes below on disagreements with some Roman Catholic doctrines], but that to accept your Church means, not to accept a given body of doctrine, but to accept in advance any doctrine your Church hereafter produces. It is like being asked to agree not only to what a man has said but also to what he is going to say.”- C. S. Lewis, “Christian Reunion”, in Christian Reunion and Other Essays, edited by Walter Hooper, London: Collins, 1990, p. 17-18. http://beggarsallreformation.blogspot.com/2011/09/two-excellent-quotes-by-c-s-lewis-on.html)

RCs suppose that Rome is steward of Divine revelation and inheritor of Divine promises of God's presence and preservation, and has historical descent, and thus she is the perpetually infallible interpreter (or declarer) of Truth. But which is not how the church began, and in fact that model effectively nukes the church.

Of course, Rome has presumed to infallibly declare she is and will be perpetually infallible whenever she speaks in accordance with her infallibly defined (scope and subject-based) formula, which renders her declaration that she is infallible, to be infallible, as well as all else she accordingly declares.

However, the Lord and NT church established truth claims upon upon Scriptural substantiation in word and in power, (Mt. 22:23-45; Lk. 24:27,44; Jn. 5:36,39; Acts 2:14-35; 4:33; 5:12; 15:6-21;17:2,11; 18:28; 28:23; Rm. 15:19; 2Cor. 12:12, etc.) and it was by Scriptures that they were tested, as Acts 17:11 testifies, and thus to it being the supreme standard and assured word of God.

And in the world today it is not that of Roman Catholicism that evidences the resurrection and thus regenerative power of Christ the most (though coming short of the prima NT church), but those church who most hold to the conservative evangelical faith.

Angels are not part of the body of Christ...Where do you guys come up with this stuff???

They come up with it because Scripture to the RCA is not his master, but his servant, to be used (abused) to support his master, Rome, or his interpretation of it, as even she does not officially teach angels are part of the body of Christ.

And if they are, then Christ died for them, and pastors (not those distinctively titled "priests" ) are overseers of them. (Acts 20:28)

This is nothing more than modern day paganism, which is identical to original paganism with a “church approval”
