Posted on 04/07/2013 3:04:32 PM PDT by Salvation
Please pray for my dad, Jerry, age 100, and the repose of his soul. He died at 9:15 this morning.
Divine Mercy Sunday.
His body was giving out on him, but his mind was still sharp as a tack. We always played cards with him when I visited him.
Used to be pinochle, then it turned to canasta.
I just sent that to my brothers and sister for the funeral handout. Never know!
Beautiful words, and they fit my father.
Prayers for your family — my goodness a century meant God had a lot for him!
I know you know that God and Jesus soothe the souls of the just.
Please know I am praying for you.
I will never forget the words of the parish priest at my grandfather’s funeral: “save your prayers for the living, he (grandpa) is with the Lord already.”
What’s happening with you, dear one?
Prayers up. He lived through amazing times.
Thought you might enjoy the remarkable story behind the success of Chobani Yogurt. Many prayers for your daughter, son-in-law and their child.
Crossing The Bar
Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar when I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep too full for sound and foam. When that which drew from out the boundless deep turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, and after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell when I embark;
For though from out our borne of time and place the flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face when I have crossed the bar.
On the way.
Doing a Chaplet!
In paradisum deducant te Angeli; in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Ierusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere æternam habeas requiem.
May angels lead you into paradise; upon your arrival, may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the ranks of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, once a poor man, may you have eternal rest.
A long and full life. What a blessing!
But the loss of one’s father (and patriarch, no doubt) is a hole that just doesn’t quite ever fill.
My sincere condolences and prayers.
Peace to you, and comfort to your whole house.
What a beautiful prayer! Thank you for sharing it with all of us.
Oh my! You have my prayers.
Pray for my borthers and sisters who are there arranging everything. (I’m the oldest of seven and one brother is deceased.)
I don’t even knoe if the caridologist will release me to go to the funeral with the high atrial fib that I am dealing with.
May he be welcomed into the Divine MERCY with great joy!
I’ll keep you and yours in my prayers because I know you will miss him for a while.
Blessed Pope John Paul II died on the Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday (a different day that year), as discussed at this link:
Asking for his prayers also, and may Our Blessed Mother console you (and remember that all our "Hail Mary's" we ever say ask Mary to pray for us and our loved ones at the hour of our deaths.)
100, “a mighty age”. God have Mercy on his soul and give Peace to those he leaves.
If you want, I can send you the entire prayer which includes remembrances for priests, martyrs, apostles, etc. This prayer is chanted at the conclusion of the funeral mass while the priest incenses the coffin. It is traditional in the Maronite Church to celebrate a mass 40 days after the funeral, at which time the Myrrh & Incense prayer is again chanted at the conclusion of the mass and once again on the 1st anniversary. Let me know.
For your dad, Jerry, RIP +
Prayers for Jerry’s eternal soul. RIP with our Lord.
Prayers up for your father! Praise God that you had so many years!
Gonna post the full story sometime this evening. Very tired right now, but will post my story before the night is over. Might be a little surprising. Might be boring. But feel as though an explanation is in order to clear up any confusion.
Thank you for asking.
Please do. It is beautiful. My brother who died was a priest.
May he rest in peace.
Great life. prayers for God’s blessings on all.
You are a treasure, Salvation.
I offer my sincere condolences on the passing your father.
God is calling His own home.
Amen. Will do another later. I feel good about him.
“And on that Day, they will ask ‘Death, where is thy sting?’” He will rise on that day be assured.
Done deal... For your whole family. No doubt y'all have been expecting it, but that certainly doesn't make it any easier. It is a terrible loss.
I dont even knoe if the caridologist will release me to go to the funeral with the high atrial fib that I am dealing with.
Well there's another thing to pray for! I will pray that all that clears up, not just for the occasion, but permanently!
I am truly sorry for you. What a sad time... But while 'sorry don't pay the bills', I hope you know that you are not alone, and that folks are holding you up before the Father - May God rain peace and comfort on you all.
may God rest him in peace.
My sincere condolences on the loss of your father. Nothing I say can make you feel better, just know I care.
A nice sign for therest of you that he received that mercy.
Prayers up for your Father and his loved ones.
Used to be pinochle, then it turned to canasta. My mother, Murph, will be at the pinochle table with a chair open for Jerry I'm sure...
Prayers for you and your Family. May your father find Peace in the arms of God.
Your father has seen the face of our Lord and he is in his glory. He has gone home to make the mansion ready. He has been and will continue to be in my prayers.
For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us, and on the whole world.
God have mercy on his soul and comfort to you and your family.
Prayers sent, and for you too.
Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.
I am so sorry for your loss.
May your father, Jerry, now know the eternal peace and joy with God and his Son and all the Angels and Saints.
May you and your family be comforted by the Holy Spirit and may you find the peace that passes all understanding.
Last Thursday during my Adoration Hour in the Adoration Chapel, I felt something and shed a few tears. Whether he slipped into a coma, or if his soul left his body then — I do not know. But something happend at 1:29 pm.
I appreciate your message so much.
I think Pope John Paul II died the eve before Divine Mercy of that year.
He was anointed by the local priest last Monday.
